Lowly teams cost us.
« on: April 29, 2023, 04:48:29 PM »
:oldman" :farmer: Ultimately it would appear we will now be in the playoffs as I write this, to many drawn matches and defeats to teams in the lower reaches of the league have cost us the title and automatic promotion.
However I would just like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Mark and Hugo, for there immense contribution over the past few weeks, they have really taken the team to new levels not seen under TURNCOAT TOMMY, they instilled belief in our team and we have really had an incredible run to push Fylde , they have praised the fans, not criticised and the fans have repaid there faith in numbers through the gate. On to the playoffs and in good form, we can still play National league football next season COYL :oldman" :farmer: .

Can't argue with that BUT our form dipped when we lost key players to injury.

We conceded a late goal at home to Chester which cost us the points but we hardly won a second ball in the last 30 mins. That wouldn't have happened in the early part of the season with a full squad.

Both Fylde and Lynn dropped plenty of points to lower sides. The only real difference was in the 2 head to heads, 3-3 at their place and 0-1 at The Walks. Unfortunate that the latter happened when things were “not all well”, shall we say, at the club. How much TW’s alleged background touting of himself affected his performance and that of the squad at that time, can only be guessed at. Huge credit to the squad and to the current management duo on getting things back on track. Let’s hope they get the run of the dice in the lottery, which is the playoffs….they certainly deserve it

:oldman" :farmer: we are currently on a great run of form, hopefully this will continue and we can obtain the promotion we thoroughly deserve, in front of another bumper crowd at the Walks.  COYL.  :farmer: :oldman"

Great season, and very well done to the team.  A real pity we dropped so many points to teams in the bottom third, mainly, imho, throug TW’s  safety-first selections.  Often, in games against lower teams, he chose teams heavily populated with defenders or defensive midfielders.  We were unlucky to lose some of the best players to injury.  Pick an attacking side for the play-offs, and we should be too strong in home games for the opposition.

Well done to all involved, finishing so close to fylde is no mean feat,  with their spending money. We all thought it was beyond us weeks ago, so to still be in with a shout in the final game was brilliant. Sadly, not to be.
It's easy to look back and point to a single game costing us, but Fylde had their share of poor results too.
Let's just take our excellent form forward into the next two games, two cup finals to promotion!
COYL!
