It might be suggested that Heacham have reached their Holy Grail.  Thurlow Nunn Prem ( Step 5) is where teams who want to be successful at that level have to start finding a decent bit of wonga to attract players to the Club.

Will be interesting to see how Heacham cope with a year of stalemate after 8 fantastically successful years.  Plus Will their better players want to test themselves at a higher going forward than perhaps Heacham can offer.

Perhaps Gordon will offer some insight in where the Clyb seems themselves going from here ?
Going on from here next saturday i will represent the club at the Thurlow Nunn awards in Norwich, hopefully much like the old days with KLFC in the Southern League.
The following saturday the 13th will be club presentation evening in Heacham Hall (all welcome) from 6-30pm and then after the players awards Zola supplying the music for the evening. Admission is free. There will be Champions merchandise on sale also during the evening.
Friday June the 16th we have a Sportsmans evening at Knights Hill Barn with guest speaker Razor Ruddock and comedian. There will be a huge raffle, Auction of memorabilia and again  Club champions merchandise on sale. There are still a few seats available for anyone who wants  a great evening of entertainment.
Then a summer of taking stock of the new season in the Thurlow Nunn Premier. Honoured to sponsor for the 5th season at the clubs highest ever level.
Off the field jobs to do and the Supporters club looking to build on the 195 current members.
So busy, busy.

Tin hat time.   Should SC give the job to Hughes for next season or look for a more seasoned campaigner to take it on ?

Mark has done a decent job but today in the biggest game of the season he has well and truly had his pants pulled down.
Mark Hughes comes across as a nice guy but nice guys win sod all.

C’mon let’s have your thoughts.

For me, a new manager - possibly keep Mark Hughes & Hugo as the coaching staff if they want it??

I don't have any names I would throw into the hat but just feel we nned a proven manager to push us on next season otherwise I fear next season could be a slog depending on who stays, who goes and whether we remain full or part time (which could influence players staying/joining)

How much, financially a new proven manager would cost is another thing

One further thing - The away support today.

Have to give them credit, for the numbers that travelled and also their vocal support - yes they had plenty to cheer about in the second half, but even in the first half they were a noisy bunch.

Impressive

Overwhelming feeling having slept on it is disappointment, not so much for the result as Kidderminster were comfortably the better side on the day but the fact that we couldn't find a way to compete.  Much has been made of Hughes' inexperience in not changing a winning a side or the changes made during the game but ultimately we were lacking all over the pitch so could have made a case for any of the subs being introduced and/or lots of changes in formation, says a lot that the (undisputed) MotM is the goalie in 4-1 defeat

Looking forward, I just hope SC draws breath and before worrying about individual player's future or what management team is in place he has a clear plan for the club off field as that has to be stepped up and work in tandem with the football side

Or then again Tony more likely to expect things to continue down the same route as they have off the field since SC took the reins.   Wonder how many Head of The Commercial side we will get through next season ?

Spots n Leopards spring to mind
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I console myself Tony, with the thought that , on reflection , having a good Cup run, finishing second and not getting promoted, is actually the best result for the club overall. Until we have regular home crowds of 2,000 plus, an active supporters club and significant connections with and sponsorship from , local business we are nowhere near ready to compete in the NL. To those that say that will never happen….then we will never be ready to go up.

Realistically for the next few years, it is in my opinion , sheer folly to attempt to win direct promotion from the NLN…….there is only one direct promotion space and many teams with bigger budgets. Much better to build the off field business up, whilst targeting a good Cup/Trophy run and a mid table position which could possibly turn into a scraped playoff place as a bonus.

The fans do prefer local players and managers, but obviously those good enough for the level may be in short supply. However, some good canny dealing could be had by looking at teams relegated from NLS and NLN who have the odd stand out…eg Sherriff at Kettering could be worth a consideration

I know “hindsight” will be chucked at me here, but it isn’t correct because today’s deficiencies have been apparent throughout the 2nd half of the season.  We have willing workers in midfield, but virtually no creativity or “nippiness”.  I believe midfield should consist of attack-minded players, like any Spanish team or Brighton at the moment.  The selection yesterday made fancying KH an easy prediction.  Defenders get swamped if the midfield can’t keep the ball.  On the future, we cannot expect a “manager” to be the answer as very few managers survive the chop,  any with great regularity!  Swap the word “manager” for “ a person who likes good players, and has the contacts to know and attract them - plus, of course, available finance.  Most of all, our club must get organised on that front, with the kind of ideas and commitment described in the post by Gordon Chilvers.

Painful watching. Of the Lynn players only Dixon-Hodge and Stephens might consider viewing it!
