Huge, huge blow to the club, comfortably our most valuable and consistent player over the last three seasons.  Wish him all the best, maybe his work situation has changed and he thinks Scunthorpe gives a better chance of getting back to NL football, always think it is better to try for something than not and then regret it later, he isn't getting any younger and can always go back to accountancy when he hangs up his boots.

Two big holes already for MH to fill but today should be about appreciating what MC did for the club rather than worrying about next season, plenty of time for that I am sure

With not being able to compete financially with Scunny, do you think there's a chance that the playing budget has been cut from what it was last season?

Would it be such a bad thing if the budget was cut and we lived within our means ?

The Chairman is on record as saying there are players falling out of the League who would take £400 a week

So does that mean he was hybrid last season ?  As I thought we were a full time Club

It depends of what your interpretation of "full time" is.

Rumour was that he very nearly joined Sports at the start of last season, and it took serious :countingmoney: to keep him here. I would guess he's been on Jimmy's radar for a while, so no real surprise with this one.

There would seem to be a number of 'full time' definitions. Perhaps misguidedly i used to think it referred to the fact that such players did not have a second job?

That’s really sad to lose Michael I was at the table when Setch first interview with him I remember Michael saying I have never missed a penalty and I said to Setch you had better sign this kid

A squad of 20 a £400/week is 8 grand if we get 1500 supporters @ an average gate payment  of £15 that brings in £ 16,500. For 23 home games this totals £379k . Total gate money is less than players wages £416k and then there are the other costs reckon it will double the gate money. If £400 is SC’s weekly pay for players I hope his pocket is deep or he has some other finance other wise KLTFC will be bust yet again.

Was it THE TABLE Malc ?

If it was, I bet Michael had more than one offer on it.

I’m starting to fear for us next season. Just missing out this year provides no guarantees for 2023-2024. Already key players have departed and I’m guessing more will go. Will we get quality replacements?  I have my doubts currently. MH is, I suspect, on a learning curve. That’s fair enough and understandable but does he have the right sort of contacts to pull in players we need?  My worry is that we will not be fighting for a play-off place next season but actually will be trying to avoid relegation. I sincerely hope I’m wrong…but things, to me, seem to more in that direction. I’m usually optimistic but nothing, to date, gives me hope. Someone tell me I’m wrong!!

On top of gate money you have bar takings, cafe takings, food takings, programme and 50/50 sales. Add on to that player sposorship, sponsor boards/advertising,match sponsor and ball sponsor. We the hopefully get good cup runs and some decent friendlies. On the average 1500 per gate @ an average of £15 it would be £22,500 per game, times this for the 23 games and it totals £517,000,a profit on the players wages of £101,000.You would then have cup revenue on top? :dontknow: :bankrupt:
Perhaps a lunatic was simply a minority of one.

Scunthorpe are moving all their training to Ilkeston whilst they sort their new training facility out so still a decent journey for El Capitano!!

MC I believe was ‘hybrid’ training/playing last year as he wanted to keep himself in his day job at Stephenson Smart.

The bigger teams will always shout from the rooftops at this time of year with new players etc.

I hoping SC and MH are going about their work behind the scenes and hopefully will surprise us with a few decent signings.
