Scunthorpe are moving all their training to Ilkeston whilst they sort their new training facility out so still a decent journey for El Capitano!!

MC I believe was ‘hybrid’ training/playing last year as he wanted to keep himself in his day job at Stephenson Smart. 
The bigger teams will always shout from the rooftops at this time of year with new players etc.

I hoping SC and MH are going about their work behind the scenes and hopefully will surprise us with a few decent signings.

Apparently he was "hybrid" at Stephenson Smart as well, and worked there on a part time basis so as to also be able to play football.

I’m starting to fear for us next season. Just missing out this year provides no guarantees for 2023-2024. Already key players have departed and I’m guessing more will go. Will we get quality replacements?  I have my doubts currently. MH is, I suspect, on a learning curve. That’s fair enough and understandable but does he have the right sort of contacts to pull in players we need?  My worry is that we will not be fighting for a play-off place next season but actually will be trying to avoid relegation. I sincerely hope I’m wrong…but things, to me, seem to more in that direction. I’m usually optimistic but nothing, to date, gives me hope. Someone tell me I’m wrong!!

I think Scunthorpe coming down  and Aldershot possibly picking off a few, could be doing us a big favour, in effect meaning we have to reset and recruit a new squad. It emphasises where we need to be financially, to even consider going up. We are a fair way off what is required, so a few seasons mid table or just creeping into the play off picture, might be just what is needed, whilst time is used to build other revenue streams up. The difficulty may be getting the fan base to buy into it….given many seem to be big match Harry’s.

Afraid there other costs not not been included by the above reply, flood lights, hire of Ely training facility, travel to away games, Insurance requirements , I would think there is also a considerable sum paying players mileage from their homes to Ely and the Walks plus wages for Manager, trainer/ coach, physios etc. Also £400 a week works out at a salary of £20800 before stoppages which I expect is a lot less than a full time footballer would expect.
Considering the average gate this season is probably 200 or so less I am just illustrating that financially the club is struggling. Ergo unless SC has a magic solution don’t expect miracles on the playing field for the forthcoming season.

I’m liking what Pink has to say in his post.  A lot of sense being talked there. Reminds very much of someone who use to post on here.  If that is the case then welcome back.

I’d love to see SC cut the bullcrap and just tell it like it is.   Would like to see a full
X point plan put in place to drive the club forward over say the next 3/4/5 years.

1.  Other partners brought onboard in support of the owner.

2.  A fully integrated commercial department formed and properly headed up by someone who actually knows what they are doing.  Very like the guy we had but who left through Ill health.  Someone who is allowed to get on with the job without any interference.

3.  A big Olive branch handed out to the Trust and for SC to ask them to get involved in supporting the club.

4.  A fully functional Supporters Club again there to raise funds and support the Club. ( has the issue with old SC funds finally been sorted?)

5.  A club that works in harmony with the its fans getting a big message out there loud and clear.  One where the fans feel totally included and are proud to follow their local club.

That reads very much as the type of thing most of us would really hope to see from a major reset………….I suspect point one might be the catalyst for the rest to happen and a statement of aims to be produced.

Really good post that, as I am sure this Forum is reviewed on a fairly regular basis by club connections.

Logic and common sense sprang readily to mind, so i doubt any or all will become the reality but i continue to live in hope!
