Fletcher Toll rumour
« on: July 18, 2023, 05:25:52 PM »
@GregTheLynnNews
Hearing rumours that prolific @HeachamFC striker Fletcher Toll is set to feature for @officialKLtown in their friendly at Royston
tonight.
Will be interesting to see if the whispers are true.
17:20.

Why not? I’m sure he’ll be as good as some of the recent signings.

I have to agree, underwhelmed with some of the signings we’ve made, hopefully I will be proven wrong to doubt them , but, don’t feel they are the quality required.

Time will tell.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the new signings go out on loan. With the level some have been playing at, Heacham could be a likely destination for them.

On another subject, I read that the Ladies team will be paid this coming season. I'm looking for the logic here, as I'm sure there would be enough local young Ladies willing and good enough to play for the club without being paid.

There must be a reason the Club are committing to this, but its something that I don't understand.

I'm all for a Ladies team, along with Academy and Youth teams etc,  but are we in a position to fund other teams, when it's fairly obvious that the first team squad is under very severe financial restraints?

Not a dig at the Ladies team or the people involved with it.

Some form of levelling up ? Or maybe there is an FA reward in the mix.   Have to go with the idea that some of  the First team budget is being spread more around the Club.

There is the Ladies World Cup starting this week and the general feeling is that female football in general is going to really take off.  Could it be that SC has seen the future and wants to be in on it ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Sadly, I have to agree with aome of the previous comments, i.e. that some of our signings don’t seem to be of NLN standard. Worrying times…. As for the Heacham striker - perhaps he plays tonight but a potential player for us?  How could you go from Heacham FC to, say, playing Scunthorpe Utd?!

Clearly Dazza and Doug haven't been to any friendlies this season. Having been to Lincoln, Cheshunt and Royston tonight, I'm very confident we can have a good season with these players that Hughes has brought in. No, we may not challenge for the title, but we can certainly have a go at the play-offs.

We bossed the Cheshunt and Royston matches and very much matched ourselves to a Lincoln side that was predominantly full of their first team players. That same Lincoln side went and stuffed Boston 7-0. We'll be fine this season with some good young talent out looking to prove themselves  :scarf:

It didn't take Joe Taylor long to go from Wroxham to Luton?

Good to see the positive posts on here from Well Wisher and Rod. Pessimism seems to be a given default on here for some. Lighten up and let the fear drift away guys………..decent replacements for the wing backs and Clunan, rest of defence intact, excellent midfield for this league….just need one of the forward signings to come to the party. Looks like top half/play off place is achievable.

Good call Pink.  Looking at last nights starting 11 it included 8 of last teams squad.  So that’s ya starting point to build on as you have to assume that’s 8 players he wanted to keep.  The factor in Hargreaves and Scott from last season who were missing last night that brings it up to 10 from seasons team who, let’s not forget finished 2nd.

As for the players brought in there seems to be a younger vibe about it.  Again no bad thing.   Not seen friendlies for myself but hearing good things about young Ben Issacson.  The one real question mark is will the new loaner from AFC Wimbledon be a good fit for Gold ?   Though he was a marmite player for most.  He was a 20 goal man for us.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

If Toll has the ability and hunger to develop significantly, the level he has been playing at is of secondary importance.

Hello folks...  I was trying to be realistic rather than optimistic but will be very happy to stand corrected. It was not my intention to be pessimistic. Looking at last season (possibly not a good indicator, who knows?) a bunch of teams seemed to progress well in the second half of the year - the likes of Buxton and Kidderminster etc. whereas we started to struggle somewhat. So while I appreciate we have a really good nucleus it's imperative we have a squad where others can come in as needed and be of the same standard. That's my concern. Anyway...time will tell and I'd be delighted if we do have the players to see us in the top half plus...

I would much prefer to read genuine opinions, whether they be positive or negative, rather than those that might be underpinned by a personal agenda.

Agreed. If Lynn were to sign him though, it surely has to be on the basis that he is good enough for the squad and will therefore be given match time. Lynn are really still searching for an out and out striker. Stephens and Ponticelli weren’t prolific last season, hopefully they will score more this term. Currently looks to me like Lynn need one of the other strikers to find the net regularly, so they need to be given the chance…no point IMO in leaving them warming the bench till Christmas…….I’m hoping the manager Hughes will be brave and give those with potential a decent run out, to hopefully uncover at least one who can make the grade, in the first third of the season.
