How's the pitch?

Is it coping with all the wet stuff?

Let’s hope that people are not put off by the weather and the Club gets a good 1000 plus turnout.

I’m sure many will turn out to give the new team the once over so a big chance for Mark Hughes to impress and get off to a flyer to keep the fans coming.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I hate to put a damper on things (no pun intended), but this rain is forcast all day, Hereford are bringing 200+ we owe it to them also to use some common sense and perhaps get a local ref in about 12.  I think it will be off it the weather stays the same.

Always a difficult one.

On one hand the Club needs the money so has to leave it as late as possible in the hope everything will be OK. I won't blame them for that.

On the other hand, Clubs being the heart of the community owe it to supporters (home and away) to inform them ASAP.

Over the years, we've let supporters know in plenty of time, but also left it to the last minute so fans have travelled a long distance for nothing.

We have also had the same happen to us at away games.

Agree that weather really don't look good.

Very difficult decision to make.

Just heard that pitch is looking good at the moment and as far as the person I was speaking to knows, there's no need for a pitch inspection.

Good luck to the lads today, I think its going to be a tough season ahead with a few new players unproven at this level, but lets hope for a win, although for me, a promising performance is more important than the actual result today.

Thinking very much along the same lines.

Well disappointed we never won. But a great game of football.  Lots of plus  points.  Tommy Hughes excellent.  Ben Stephens to generous in trying to set up Ponticelli for his hatrick. Both fullbacks better than expected.  Only negative was Jones in goal. I sometimes think he is slow of his line, but he made some great saves.  Early days but looking good against a team that has spent  alot  .

Everyone likes to win in their opening game.  Sadly it seems Lynn couldn’t quite get this one over the line.  Coming back from a goal down to get a point is no bad result, though some will be disappointed not to have held onto a 2-1 lead.    Long season ahead, lots of players in the squad to bed in.

Club has to be pleased with a gate of nearly 1400.   That is an impressive start.  People away on holiday as well at this time of year together with the poor weather.  Signs looking good going forward.

I look forward to my first visit of the season.

Widdler started off with an empathic 5-2 home win over promoted Oxford City.  Jones and Widdler Jun both started.  Not that the later starting was ever in doubt.  No sign of Scott in the squad.

Plenty of positives from today.  Only two starters who weren't with us last season - both wing backs - and both had good solid games.  Hughes had a good game in the middle of the park and Stephens and Ponticelli both did well up top, although wish Stephens had been a bit more selfish with that chance rather than trying to set Ponts up for his hatrick as it gave their keeper (who had a very good game) the chance to make the save.

Still have concerns over the pace at the back and the lack of any real protection for the back line from the midfield - Hughes and Hargreaves are both good footballers and no real drop off when Spence was introduced but none of them are real 'ball winners'.  Still very early days but it could be that MH's squad may have more in common with IC's in terms of how to win games than TW's.
