No, not scoring for fun, but if it’s the best you have it’s the best chance you have!  Equal with their No. 11, Josh was the best player on the pitch.  But we do need a regular scorer, and more creative ability in every position, particularly midfield.  I don’t think Gold O will set the NL alight, so keep tabs on him.  He did score goals in the end…

Not only was he by far our leading scorer, he was pretty useful defending set pieces.  Those that wanted him gone must be delighted... :dontknow:

I can't remember anyone saying they wanted him to go, but would guess that if you have a 20 goals a season striker and a club inplementing serious budget cuts, he was always likely to move on.

I understand where you are coming from Dilly….but you don’t know if that combination is best until you give the others a go. Fatjado given some game time, scores, now in your side. Royle needs to be given a chance too….no point in having the likes of Royle, Bartleyetc in the squad unless you are going to give them a chance.

For me there were both positives and negatives.

Player wise.  Ronan, Bartley and Spence.  Way short of what is needed.  Only had to look at Ponch’s frustration at playing along side Bartley.   Plus’s on the playing side, of the new lads were Smith, Oke and Clifford.

As for the style of play have to admit I had no idea what that was.  We didn’t seem capable of stringing anything worthwhile together.   It looked a total mess.  First half can’t even remember us creating a single half chance let along anything close to having anything on target.  Back line looked comfy, midfield, huffed and puffed but looked devoid of ideas.  Every deadball delivery failed to beat the first man.  What do they actually work on as full timers ?

2nd half started more positivity with Barret and Stephens on for Spence and Bartley.   We looked lively and on the front foot for 15-20 min, there after we kind of lost the plot again.

Once Gloucester took the leads you could see the confidence visibly drain from the players. Luckily we did Nick one right at the death after throwing Coulson up top to try and Salvage  something.

I know it’s only 4 games into the season but if Hughes sticks with some of what he has invested Cleeve’s money in then that will see us in a relegation battle and probably cost the Irishman his job.  I’m not sure if Cleeve has employed another Clark ( he lasted 10 games).

I think back to when Cully was in charge at this level and style of Football we played that was so enjoyable on the eye, then look at that today.  Miles apart.

Crowd of just shy of 1,000 seemed very flat as well.   Have to say the Programme was a vast improvement on previous.  Interesting article in there from Chris Lakey giving his views on Managers he had interviewed both at Lynn and Norwich.  He certainly had Widdrington sussed out.

The commercial side looks a worry.  No match day sponsor and not one player being sponsored.

Be interesting to hear what others made of today’s fayre.  Maybe I’m being over harsh. That today will not keep average attendances at 4 figures.

This is pretty much spot on for me.

It was one of the worst matches I've watched, featuring two poor teams.

I don't want to be over critical but Bartley...........every time he was involved in the first half, it resulted in me just shaking my head - hopefully it was just one poor performance, but if that is his calibre, then it isn't looking good.

As for the crowd - I was surprised how flat it all felt - I know the team and crowd need to feed each other, but it was just sooooo flat from the off.

Still, a long way to go, lots of points to be won and lost, only one defeat in four matches..........but we do need to get better.

I like Mark Hughes, but the jury is out for me on his appointment

As I felt against Kidderminster via play-offs
Saturday was no different , Hughes for me is way
Out of his depth in every dept....
So whilst the current management team are in place
I will no longer enter the turnstiles.....
BUT I still wish them well.....

I am a kinda pleased I missed the Gloucester game….everybody without exception seems to have the same view.

However, this may be a time when patience is a virtue….both with management and squad….they are both young and will learn and grow as the season progresses.

Lynn are not a big non league club and certainly now, do not have big money to throw around, it seems.

The money is probably not there to support any significant replacement of personnel in the coming months and in any case it’s way too early to assess how things may pan out.

I plan to be patient, stay positive and keep my fingers crossed……..in the current circumstances, it may be the best we can do.

So if we no longer have the money to fund the team to progress where will that leave Cleeve’s ambition of bringing League Football to Kings Lynn. ?  Then also what is the point of being full time and paying out for overnight stays if that ambition has now disappeared.

Let’s not forget the debt the Club is showing on its accounts.  .
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

As far as I can see, Cleeve hasn't said that we (he) no longer has the money to fund the teams progress, or that he has lost the ambition of bringing league football to Kings Lynn. If things have changed in this respect and he's now changed the business model, let's give him time to inform us. The season has only just begun.

When we are 10 games in, if there's no news coming, maybe then it could be considered fair to start asking.

The massive debt is worrying either way!
