The Management Committee made the mistake of calling themselves the Nuts and Bolts team holding the Club together. That was not well received 'upstairs' as it diminished their perceived glory.

I remember something similar happened when the FOTL's claimed something along the lines of already running a part of the Club.

The result was one unhappy Chapman!

A while ago but Colin Nichols was chairman. The first management meeting i went to after taking over the club shop (february) and first major function (saturday night end of season soul night) started with a presentation cheque on the pitch for Lynn News photo, for £10K to Colin Nichols, the profits from 12 weeks of clubshop and the Soul night.
We then had a meeting in the B&G and when it came to any other business i asked for a page in the matchday programme for Clubshop merchandise, away travel and upcoming functions. To be told its top late to change the programme, to which i replied then no more £10K cheques. obviously i got my Supporters Club/Clubshop page in the programme.

The amount raised back then with all of the different commercial enterprises.  If you had to put a figure on it in today’s £, shillings and pence, what numbers £‘S would it equate to ?

Sorry but cannot answer that one as all paperwork stored safe and secure and not local. It was substantial as of the first £10K cheque to Colin Nichols then chairman (detailed in another thread). For those that are interested Double g Were first involved in player sponsorship firstly with the midfield battler from Grimsby, Steve Mcloughlin, followed by Chuck Martini, Darren Bloodworth, Charlie Defty etc.
then in 2001 a 5 figure sponsorship of the RESERVES commenced and lasted until the bankruptcy of the club.
Ikon introduced firstly Hummel kit followed by Joma to the club which Double G then took over the distribution and contracts.
The 1st team player FREE kit  supplied free of charge by Joma and Double G 50/50. The only items invoiced was the embroidery and print added to the garments.
20 outfield, home shirt, shorts and socks
20 outfield, away shirt shorts and socks
1 of each goalkeeper of everything home and away.
20 of each warm up shirt/shorts and socks
20 tracksuits
20 travel polo shirts
20 rainjackets/coats
20 kit bags
Management/coaching/ physio etc had 1 of each of everything as above except playing kit.
On top of the above DOUBLE G paid for exactly the same amount of garments as above for the Reserves team/managers/coaches and physios. On top of that the RESERVES NEVER paid for their embroidery and print requirements.
Joff and Jason, Robbie and Curly were also given training balls and any other requirements as and when required especially when refused by the hierachy.
Now you know the truth folks.

Well Thankyou Gordon for the History lesson but that is exactly what it is History and now you got that of your chest prehaps you can stop harping on about it and move on and put all your expertise in Helping Heacham

It's fashionable these days to wipe out or deny history.  Mr Hill and his cohorts will be toppling Gordon's statue into the river next.

Well that’s interesting never thought of that one ,let’s get one thing straight I have nothing against Gordon what I don’t like his constant knocking the Club I appreciate what he did in the past but we need to move on I know everything at the club isn’t at its best but it’s what we have at the moment and yes it could be improved IMO The chairman is trying to do everything his self and he really needs help in running the club but he’s a one man band and at times he his is own worst enemy but his heart is in our club so let’s cut the man a little slack and come up with ideas to help in improving the running the club

Why are you so frightened of the TRUTH Malcolm. Why not interested in the history. In excess of 125 years of history involved. Has it ever been as bad as this? Apart from going skint of course. I was just handing over large sums of money, i had no influence where the money went/spent.
Or are you trying to erase your own historical efforts. Is that the problem?

I know my own failings Gordon at least I gave it ago, but the way it was going it was no longer feasible and like I said I do appreciate what you did in the past but that’s just it it’s in the past and we need to move on and not keep going on about what was going on then. We need to try and move forward, it’s a great pity that the club lost your support and expertise.
