Brackley at home
« on: September 05, 2023, 08:16:39 AM »
High flying Brackley are in Town tonight.  Tough as they come this one.   Hoping for a point, expecting a defeat.

Just seen this Tweet from our owner.  What can we read into this, ?  If anything

Would any local companies like to sponsor our games this week against Brackley and Southport?  We need your support as I explain in tomorrow's programme notes

Izvinite, no moy pis'mennyy angliyskiy ne ochen' khorosh, no ya mogu normal'no govorit' i rugat'sya tak zhe khorosho, kak moi ul'tra-druz'ya. programmnyye konspekty segodnya vecherom budut interesnymi, no my uzhe znayem, chto oni budut soderzhat' yeshche odno obrashcheniye iz chashi dlya podayaniya i opravdaniye togo, chto problemy, s kotorymi stalkivayetsya klub, ne yego vina.

I'm sorry, but my written English is not very good, but I can normally'speak' and scold's as well as my ul'tra-friends'ya. Tonight's program notes will be interesting, but we already know that they will contain another appeal from the alms bowl and an excuse that the problems the club is facing are not its fault.

Still early days but this game should give us a steer as to to where we are at. At face value a draw would be considered positive and a step in the right direction?

As for match sponsors being sought at the eleventh hour: why am i not surprised. I am old enough to recall a time when match sponsors were on board well ahead of the games, where most players were sponsored by early in the season and when off field commercial activity and fund raising was on going throughout the year.

I wonder what went wrong?!

Looking at Brackley’s unbeaten record in depth... It seems they have not played anyone in the top 7.  Drawn 2 games against the two Clubs at the bottom of the League ( Darlo and Southport).  Their biggest winning margin came Saturday with a 2-0 result v Warrington.

There to be won, maybe ?

Always a hard game against Brackley. Ill take a draw, and a crowd of 790. Home again Saturday, to much in one week, not much spare cash around.

Every game sponsored BEFORE the start of the season started. Interesting pre season games, Player sponsorship-full. Match ball sponsorship-full. Supporters Club, 100 club,(£100 winner EVERY home game), Away Travel every game, Superb clubshop, regular functions, end of season 3 days/nights of marquee events, Function room booked out an average of 3 nights a week, end of season presentation nights. Oh sorry that was pre Cleeve when the locals wanted to sponsor and got value for their sponsorship.

GC. Who was responsible for bringing in all that revenue ?  It seems SC has had so many different people ( including himself) trying to pull in match day ( etc) revenue but no one seems to have cracked it.

Any thoughts as to why ?

Looking at the game tonight.   2-0 up pulled back to 2-2.  2 points dropped there or 1 gained ?   Took a point before the game without a doubt.  5 mins into the 2nd half you would have maybe expected/hope for all 3.

Just as concerning as throwing away a two goal lead and holding onto a home draw by the skin of our teeth, is the fact that only 753 watched the game.

No major sponsors, not enough people paying through the gate!

Even with what must be major budget cut this season compared to previous ones, just how long is this sustainable?

I thought that the defence were terrific tonight against a well-organised and pacey forward line.  Oke is a real find- more  than  OK.

Young Frank, you may not like him, but instead of criticizing him, why don't you at least admit that what he says is true?
Why don't people want to sponsor the club now, but did before Mr. Cleve came?

Mr. Lupi, no one pays attention to you anyway
