Six players out, but one of them is the keeper and Jones is a fine replacement . So that makes 5 effectively. The NLN is such a physical league, that at any time during the season you can expect 2/3 to be out. Discipline is important -Clifford now back and Oke out for 3(?).

Hughes is a young, inexperienced Manager. Both the club hierarchy and supporters knew that at the time he was appointed. Everyone knew he would be learning the ropes as the season progressed.

Budget had been confirmed as being less than it was last season (not just speculation).

Probably the toughest job in NLN.

Maybe he needs assistance (i.e. an experienced DoF) and a bit more time.

As someone has already mentioned, we don’t know what his brief is. Maybe it was just to avoid relegation this season.

If so, it’s likely that he’s capable of doing that.

Unless there’s a big wad of money to bring a big name Manager in, what’s the point of changing, just to get more of the same, albeit with a different name on the Managers door?

Hear, hear. I hope the players knuckle down and prove they are good enough over the coming weeks.

Hughes seems a genuine guy who has been given a really difficult task as his first senior management position.

I think SC would be foolish to even think of replacing him at this stage.

I am sure the true fans are still behind him and hoping he can turn it around. This is the time for the town to be hopeful and supportive. The budget constraints mean things have to be built up and that takes time, whoever is in charge.

Provided the fans stay behind him and the team, I think he will do fine......but if the crowd start to turn at this time, they could just be putting the club in a deeper hole.

I can't speak for all fans (obviously) but I think the majority really want Mark Hughes to succeed - I know for a fact that I do.

We can all agree that the free kick was a great free kick and a couple of individual errors cost other goals, but the harsh reality is, we were 4-0 down, at half time, at home.

Somebody on another thread put that the cup game is a "free hit" - it really isn't as it would mean it's only one win from ten games and at this level, any prize money would be welcomed, plus defeat puts Hughes under more pressure.

Also, others have said that we don't know what Hughes' remit is for the season - well why not announce it?? It would help manage the expectations of the crowd as we are all hoping for promotion - I said hoping, not expecting!!

Obviously the players need to show desire and application as their collective body language yesterday wasn't great.

We also need a bit of luck - all managers need that, including Alex Ferguson.......he got that stroke of luck all those years ago when Mark Robins scored vs Forest which kept fergie in a job and the rest is history.
Yesterday if we had scored first instead of hitting the post, that bit of luck could have seen a different result yesterday and a completely different mood amongst us fans than we are currently feeling.

I'll be supporting the team and Hughes on Saturday in the cup - but if the performance is like it was on saturday, then I (we) have the right to let the manager/team know that we aren't happy

I like Hughes as a person. He comes across as a nice chap and I really wanted him to succeed. However, he looks totally out of his depth with a side that's certainly playing as if they have no confidence in the manager. We have a half decent squad on paper that shouldn't be in the position that it's currently in. We need an experienced manager to come in and get the best out of these players and I'm afraid Hughes is not the man to do that.

We need to make changes now before it's too late.

100% agree with others views on Hughes being a good guy.   However I do wonder if he is your Sgt Wilson ( Dads Army) type?    When needed can he go into a dressing room and F one into players ?   Are players taking advantage of his good nature and having an easy ride.

I don’t buy into the Club needing a DoF on a full time basis as can we afford that and what will the bring to the party.   Where Hughes is concerned the Chairman has to stick or twist.  It might be hard for him to hold his hand up and admit he got it wrong but he cannot allow us to sit in the bottom 4 for long before acting
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
