...........you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink

Putting salt in their Oats usually makes them change their mind (NB. This doesn't work with Mules).

Malc raising £750 on a night won’t pay a decent strikers wages for a week.  That’s why SC’s idea of big outdoor concerts must be so appealing to him.  He is the man with the vision.   It be Will interesting to hear who he has signed up for next year.

I can well imagine some thinking this is yet another Cleeve scheme which will put Lynn on the map.  He has to do something to fund it.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

They could raise a lot more than that Mallard we used to write to all the premiership clubs to send us something to auction off and they would fetch a lot of money. I remember bidding on a Forrest poster and dropping out at £200 I can’t remember just how much we raised that night but it was 0ver £10,000. When you get a load of business men together they try to outbid each other.

I guess getting all these businessmen there to bid would be the difficult thing.

If they were interested in an Auction, you have to assume they would be more interested in the club now, with such things as sponsorship and advertising.

In them days it was more than enough and it was not one offs there were regular events. Blue and Gold was fully booked every friday and saturday night (including my functions). Bar take average friday and saturday evening (not saturday matchday takings) if i remember was £3K. asically averaged out 300 people minimum over the 2 nights at a tenner a head). Christenings sundays, wakes etc in the week when it was sensible money to hire.
I did ring SC on one occasion as one of my embroiderers wanted to hold his 60th there. He quoted £650, i said way to expensive. He said includes my (his) DJ which i replied he has his own DJ. SC replies well that is an extra £50 as plugging in to his electric supply! No booking.
I wouild think he has LOST more bookings than he has hosted all because of COST.

GC all of that is very admiral but we now have a Club who are running with a full time playing squad which comes with a hefty weekly outlay.  That outlay won’t be supported by numbers through the gate.

SC is a an entrepreneur and as such likes to seem do things big.  If he can pull in big numbers for decent concerts next summer thats is money he doesn’t have to find himself.

Big concerts is big up front outlay. Marquee with 500 people would be the place to start.
There will be appeals against a bigger pitch concert because of the noise in respect of how close to housing and obviously parking situation which yes you also get on matchday but will make that area something similar to when they do fAWKES In the Walks on November 5th.
The last marquee i had permission for was placed so that the stage was just in front of the dugouts so that the noise went towards the railway line.
Another issue could be the dreadful twitter feed last saturday evening about childrens football in respect that KL Elite comes under the banner of Alive West Norfolk, subsequently BCKLWN.
In respect of the £750 quoted earlier for B&G events, that was years ago. The minimum now would be £1500 to £1750 takings on the door, not including bar take which with current overpricing minimum £3K a night.

Also run before you can walk. Unless of course you are Billy Big Boots. Classic there was a huge country house concert week coming up (similar to the Sandringham bank holiday concert weekender). CANCELLED poor ticket sales!

Big events are a mental distraction, lots of effort and the rewards can be good, but not guaranteed.

Smaller, regular events where the bar gets the takings is where the win is.

Quiz nights, horse racing nights,  music events, the odd band,  all bring regular income.

Anything that benefits the club should be a free 'hire'

Private events, they should get the hire charges,  weddings, business functions etc should all pay.

But fundraisers for the club, regardless of who puts the event on, should all be free hire.

Silly not to really.
