Hughes gone.

So Hughes coming in  (see what I did there  :laughcry: ) ?

Steve King was spotted with Cleeve a couple of weeks ago but I understand has now taken the hot seat at Havant and Waterlooville.

If its a temporary fix then could see see another internal appointment, such as Ex Ladies Manager Grant Palmer? Or, as Facebook has mentioned, a Backie and Stuart Gallon partnership.

Of course, we'd get an instant increase in the gates if Setch was to return.

Anyone else come to mind?

From a personal point of view, I’m pleased to see the manager depart the club, nothing personal in that statement, just felt, like wrong man for the job, just an easy fix after Tommy’s departure. I’m sure he did not have the same budget as Tommy, but the quality of the players we have seen grace the walks turf this season, have not been of the standard required. We need to now see where the chairman’s going to take us next. I get the talk about Setch, would he want it, personally Setch and Backy could possibly work, imho, let’s face it, it can’t get any worse than what’s been dished up this season.

I don’t want to be negative but why do folk continually hark back to Setch, Marriott etc. etc.  Somehow, we need to move forward and put the past behind us. Not easy, but let’s all give it a go.

The best post on here for the last month.

Come on guys give it a go........no more references to the past and the supposed good old days and I will also add, no more slagging off of the current regime.......try it for a week......you might be surprised how good and liberated you feel.

I am both disappointed for Hughes and for the club........dreadful timing.........just when the manager realises he needs to offload a misfiring forward line......he is gone. I was optimistic that changes would lead to improved fortunes....now that may not happen

Think with Setch, there's unfinished business there. He'll feel he can manage at this level, and King's Lynn need to operate at this level. No point getting a manager who wants a budget to push promotion, better off getting a manager that has something to prove, knows the limitations and importantly, gets the fans onside.

Hmm can’t understand the call for Setchell after seeing his teams play at the walks last couple of seasons I would rather rip up my season ticket than watch his kick and rush tactics.
Need a manager who has vision reliable contacts and motivational skills.

Not sure a Setch/Cleeve alliance has a snowballs chance in hell of working out.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I think it's for the best that Hughes has gone and, more importantly, that waste of space Whitbread.

I wonder if Whitbread was appointed as a "more experienced" guy who could assist Hughes, but from what I can make out Whitbread offered nothing - maybe with a better number two, Hughes may have faired better??
But we'll never know.

I'm quite underwhelmed at a Coulson / Jones partnership - too inexperienced for the situation we are in now.

We need either a seasoned pro, or a young hungry manager, with contacts who can draw quality players to the club,

Also, to be fair to Cleeve, he has acted on the situation, before it became worse

Possibly because they brought drive and passion to the game? :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Whatevere failings Setch may or may not have had as a manager / coach, one thing is for certsin: when ' he kissed the badge' it was genuine. The advantage of being a local boy?

Like others, I am sad to see anyone lose their job but it had got to the point where he had to go.  No doubt he suffered from a really bad run of injuries but even allowing for this, his failure to make changes to the 'system' which patently wasn't working gave SC little choice.

As for his replacement, they will inherit a squad that looks very down but I don't subscribe to the narrative that it isn't good enough for this division, if the new manager can find a system to get the best out of the current players with few tweaks then I think we should be fine, maybe not promotion contenders but well clear of relegation worries.  Given the revised SC model we need to see someone who can 'bring on' younger players and, for me, that isn't Setch as other have said let's look forward not back

Rod being a local lad who has a passion for his Town and the Club works both ways.  Great when it’s going well not so great when things aren’t.

Be interesting to see what Setch does at step 4 Corby this season.  So so start, but he does have history of going on amazing unbeaten runs.

Setch for his a non starter back at Lynn.  Why would he fancy working for Cleeve again after the way he was treated ?  Wasn’t there a war of words between the two afterwards. ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
