Looking at the fixtures in our League that have succumbed to the weather today it seems that only those with artificial pitches are still on.It got me thinking that could this be the big announcement the Chairman is going to make with regard to next year ? ( as per his last Podcast). He wants all the Clubs team using the same training facilities so would it not make perfect sense for that to be at The Walks ? Plus it could be used for all adult games. Hiring out. Then used for numerous summer events. SC ihas the consent to run summer concerts ( up to 4). This could be a real game changer if SC is prepared to invest in the Clubs long term future. He does have a massively long lease on the Ground so no worries about longevity. Is the lease is the Clubs name of SC’s as an individual?Ok ready to be shot down but really what do others think?
Certain Manager in one of his interviews has said he is not in favour of artificial pitches.
Decent players should be able to play on any surface. I use to play on an artificial surface at the Queens School Academy for Young Gentlefolk in Wisbech ( mind you I was never a decent player).Seriously, great idea. Redirect the expense of training in Ely to training on an artificial pitch in Lynn.Go part time and have players who work for a living and play/train on a Tuesday/Saturday. Those whoare part time seem to do quite well. E.g. Southport who travelled 5 hours on a coach and scoredfour goals against a full time team!. No expensive overnight hotelStay!Pleased match is postponed today. Didn't fancy frozen footballs!
As an aside, i was though not aware that there are any Gentlefolk in Wisbech?!
Article about TW & Aldershot in the Mirror today . If anyone's interested.
It will be interesting to see where the £400k+ for a 4G pitch will come from.
