Looking at the fixtures in our League that have succumbed to the weather today it seems that only those with artificial pitches are still on.

It got me thinking that could this be the big announcement the Chairman is going to make with regard to next year ? ( as per his last Podcast).  He wants all the Clubs team using the same training facilities so would it not make perfect sense for that to be at The Walks ?  Plus it could be used for all adult games.  Hiring out.  Then used for numerous summer events.   SC ihas the consent to run summer concerts ( up to 4).   This could be a real game changer if SC is prepared to invest in the Clubs long term future.

He does have a massively long lease on the Ground so no worries about longevity.  Is the lease in the Clubs name or SC’s as an individual?

Ok ready to be shot down but really what do others think?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I'm sure he'll be looking at all available options.

Maybe some will even be feasible.

Certain Manager in one of his interviews has said he is not in favour of artificial pitches.

Decent players should be able to play on any surface. I use to play on an artificial surface at the Queens School Academy for Young Gentlefolk in Wisbech ( mind you I was never a decent player).
Seriously, great idea. Redirect the expense of training in Ely to training on an artificial pitch in Lynn.
Go part time and have players who work for a living and play/train on a Tuesday/Saturday. Those who
are part time seem to do quite well. E.g.  Southport who travelled  5 hours on a coach and scored
four goals against a full time team!. No expensive overnight hotel
Stay!
Pleased match is postponed today. Didn't fancy frozen footballs!

I can understand that.

Managers will just be considering the football side of things.

Chairmen have to look at the bigger picture and have a more commercial way of thinking.

For example, the Towns biggest Sports promoter doesn't only rely on his sports team to generate income via the gate. He's invested very heavily to make sure there are income streams throughout the year. Even with his major "sport" disappearing up its own exhaust pipe, this has enabled him to make major signings to his team.

Coastal: I'm in complete agreement. At our level part time makes so much more good sense, not least financially but also because it is more likely to attract those who actually play for the love of the game?

As an aside, i was though not aware that there are any Gentlefolk in Wisbech?!

Managers are paid employees .  So should never been an issue on how the club is run to generate the income that pays their salary.

A successful  Manager at our level will move on eg TW walks out to join Aldershot.  A Manager that fails  eg MH gets the sack.  So either way Managers come and go.

What happened to our pitch covers? Where is the point of them sitting in the shade of the Main Stand? The Club cannot complain of lack of income when they don’t use all of the tools at their disposal.

It will be interesting to see where the £400k+ for a 4G pitch will come from.

And given that the council has just decided Lynnsport doesn’t need anymore artificial pitches, can’t see then letting the Walks convert away their grass.
