TONIGHTS MATCH
« on: December 12, 2023, 01:31:46 PM »
According to facebook all injured players are back in squad for tonight's match, Messrs Ponticelli , Barrett, Hughes & Clifford but no mention of Mcfadden.
With a full squad and all having had a two week break now is the time for the team to deliver and cut out the defensive mistakes.
Four home games out of next six with 18 points at stake I feel we must pick up 10 points, anything less and we will be in for a long struggle.

Well that’s 45 mins of my life I won’t get back.  That was dire.  Lakeland needs to start earning his corn from the half time team talk.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Usual manager talk.
I know he's inherited a crap team but I'm yet to be impressed with him.

Lost 2-1 in front of 604.

Sadly predictable on both counts. It took Hughes 10 games to realise that we had no forwards.....Lakeland has had 13/14. The concern for me is that some seemed to think that when the injured players came back we would be stronger........ what a pickle the club is in.

Hughes 0.8 points per game

Lakeland 1.1 points per game

Hardly pulling up the trees expected or justifying his title of the best Manager in this League.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I believe George Morrison was suspended and Jones injured

We really need supporters now who have the combined qualities of Mystic Meg and the Eternal Optimist?

I would imagine that outside investment options are currently on THAT table and under consideration.

The Dillathon computer calculated 5 years ago that the words of managers are in the main worthless.  They all say the same things and use the same cliches.  It’s about having quick and elusive players in every position.  This manager, like all others, needs players who are better than opponents, but doesn’t have the cash to attract them.  Until he does, we can’t and won’t progress.  Such a simple formula, with cash the only answer.

What a poor result, I'm afraid the buck stops with AL as his team selection was far from satisfactory.
We had our top goal scorer Cybulski (6) who is also our only natural no.9 sitting on the bench, on his introduction the team performance improved.
Barrett starting whilst coming back from injury doesn't make sense as he needs to be used as an impact player off the bench until full fitness is reached.
Smith I'm afraid is just not good enough for this standard.
Ponticelli & Stephens have scored 7 goals in 27 league starts and 6 sub appearances, whilst their positioning to make chances is very good their conversion of chances into goals is dire.
Back 3 of Crowther, Coulson & Mcfadden have not kept a clean sheet all season, surely AL must see something has to change.
Apart from 2 young loanees from Fleetwood there have been no incoming players, with all AL contacts you would think there would have been some experienced players incoming or is it that there is no finance to fund such players.
Without a team shake up or a couple of experienced incoming players appearing quickly we will be cut adrift in the bottom four over the next few games.

Still fancy us to pick up 10 points from the next 5 games after last night Norm.  I’d be more worried about where the next point is coming from.  Not just the result last night the performance was shocking.

Has Cleeve picked another dud as Manager ?
