This is an interesting one.  My family and I are occasional spectators at the Walks having moved to the area 2 years ago.  My view is if SC puts club into administration that's the end of the club.  There's a lot of talk about administration but it will probably go quickly into liquidation.   Dipping into administration only works if all creditors agree to have debts cancelled or take x% in the £, which will be unlikely.  If the club enters liquidation all contracts are broken which means there's no lease on the stadium, all players are out of contract and will be near impossible to resurrect the club.  To come out of the right side of administration there would need to be a person/party which significant funds to keep it going and to do a deal with the creditors.  If that person/party does exist then its another SC.  Even if the trust steps in and keeps the club afloat, the trust or the people leading the trust will be getting slammed on this forum for how they run it.  For one, I'm glad SC took the chance to give us league football.  It hasn't worked out but it's been a journey to remember.  I just hope we don't get to a place that we don't have any weekend football to attend.  That will be the nail in the coffin for our town.  Even a community club needs funds and a leader and a community of fans will always be divided on the way forward for a club.  I'd like to see us make it to the end of the season and start playing within our means.

His biggest mistake was alienating the fans instead of embracing them!

So far I’ E only read the first post on this thread.  It filled me with dread (exaggeration, as only a game!).  I feel that the idea of a local manager with a local squad would be the lowest point we have ever reached.  Now to read the rest!

Sorry - meant to say “re-read”….  But we’re in a mess alright.  Sc, imo, was the first Chairman to see what could be done with this club, so he funded it handsomely.  Looks like it’s failed, but thanks SC for trying.  No one else has.  If we look at our original opponents, from the Midland or Southern league onwards, we’re one of the few who have made virtually no progress, either in the team, the ground, the finances, or the level, apart from SC’s reign.  Some will be sad if we drop sharply, but I fear many will be just as happy at a more local level.  Pity, and fingers crossed for the future.

:sinking: Yes it’s alright calling for Setch however we have had our eyes opened to football played properly and if S was such a good manager why is he plying his methods leagues below us? How many would turn up to watch punting the ball forward and seeing it return the next.

And that’s what I mean.  Many would be happy to be a big fish in a tiny pool!….And it probably is the level that local ambitions will take us in the end.  It would keep a fair number of regulars, but not attract newcomers, imho….

Playing at a level the club can afford does not automatically mean Setch, or just local players.

If the supporters want a higher level of football, it needs to be paid for. That means enough people wanting to watch what is on offer, and lots of successful commercial activities (which supporters also need to be on board for).

If enough money is generated, then a club can play higher. If the supporters don't generate enough via the gate or with commercial activities, then they don't go higher.

The majority of people don't expect others to pay for their household expenses, so why do they expect others to subsidies their Saturday afternoons entertainment?   :dontknow:

Its not about being a big fish in a small pond, or a low level of ambition as some would suggest. Its better described as financial common sense and not expecting other people to pick up the tab for a higher level of football than the club can afford to operate at.

So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but this leaves the Club with no staff.

Unless the Chairman has replaced the dismissed staff with volunteers, how does the club now operate on both a day by day basis, and in particular on matchdays?

So with today’s game being the last one of  the month, where SC said the wages are covered, has SC managed to find any ‘investment’ to support January’s wages ?  Think it would be good if the owner could  make a statement about the how things stand now, going forward.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
