Not sure if that fits the rhetoric that seems more the order of the day from Rouen Road. It appears  there  is agenda coming out, that has little to do with the main story. :laughcry:
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I don't think Southend will announce Crowther until Friday at 5 to 5. Only the grey haired fans will get that one :laughcry:

Peter Glaze to play alongside him ?  :laughcry:

And playing for little reward Maybe a Crackerjack Pen and Pencil set !

Cabbages and Kings ( Double or Drop) Linnet.   We certainly are the former these days.

The time has come, the Walrus said,
 to talk of many things,
of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, of cabbages and Kings.
And why the sea is boiling hot,
and whether pigs have wings".

I have to agree with Nigel 1505.
I met SC in London ( By complete accident)  when he first took over, and I knew that his biggest problem would be the mentally of the small minded Lynn fans.
They would rather see the club drop to a lower standard, to prove that they were correct all along, when what we really need is for everybody to stick together and support the team in mass, both home and away. I know that he is shiftey.......
I spotted that within seconds of meeting him, but our club needs our full support, so we can move onwards and upwards for the next generation of Linnets.

Hi Linetts,

Southend fan here. Sorry to hear that you club is going through some difficulties. Fingers crossed that it gets resolved. We know only too well how bad things can be.

Now that we are out of our embargo, it seems we are linked with several players, one of which is young Crowther  at your place.

Seems like we are definitely interested and fits the remit of the players we are trying to sign.

Is he any good and what can we expect if he comes our way?

All the best Shrimpy.

Decent player had a exceptional season last year along side coulson , good tackler and in the air , this season he seemed to off plateaued but this seasons side at momentum to last is polar opposite, still little raw at times with distribution put him along side some experience and he’ll do you a good job …. Just a shame the £300,000 price tag may put you off  :countingmoney: :laughcry:

£300,000?They could probably get Barrett for a third of that now Solihull have said they don't want him.
Price tag is our cost  to get to the end of the season , tbh be lucky to get £25000-30  for either I’d rather sell JB than crowther

Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if any players with a price tag of 20k plus would be sold if the opportunity should arise.

Rumours are now stronger that he has indeed signed or is due to sign for us for an initial fee of around 35k with a sell on percentage.

I would have thought that Crowther is a more valuable asset than Barrett by some distance. One has obvious development potential and is reasonably consistent. The other on his day must be amongst the best at National League level but those special days are few and far between.

Would totally agree with all of that Rod although maybe best at NLN rather than NL for Barrett.  Interesting that SC has gone down the 'future sell on' route, if it was a fire sale then you would expect cash to be more valuable than a promise of 'jam tomorrow'.  Would be interesting to know if Bromley were seriously interested as that would point to the fee being a proper bid rather than Southend being able to take advantage of our current reported troubles.  Still expect more to go before we see anyone coming in and think we (including AL) need to be realistic, personally I would be happier with loans / short term signings rather than anyone on a contract going beyond the end of the season.

Are we missing the bigger picture here.  We have SC saying we are £300k short of seeing us reach the end of the season.  Lakeland saying things aren’t as bad as being painted.   Who are we supposed to believe on this ?   Will the £35k for Crowther just kick the can a further two weeks down the Road ?

Gerald Ratner  revisited ?

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
