Hope we get the version of Gold that bagged 25 goals in his last season for us.  A mate of mine that supports Kiddy said he didn't impress with them after he moved from Fylde last year.

Will be an interesting signing. .  With Lakeland’s ethos for hard graft how he deals with Gold and what level of acceptability he will go with.   Can’t deny that he scored goals for us in his time here before.  Let’s hope he still has that in locker and that AL will just accept his lack of work rate.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I think Widdrington got the most out of him being a target man but he defended well also at set plays. Got to play to his strengths - wasn't a Culverhouse type of player

Very excited by this. We have a dedicated winger to supply the crosses and we have a goal poacher playing alongside Gold...should be a good recipe.

Throw back time hey Pink to the days of the likes of Toshack and Keegan.  Most clubs in the 70s went with a big un paired with a little un.

:dontknow: Is this a good signing ? Half the goals he scored in his last season were penalties if I remember correctly! He is no Michael Gash when it comes to holding onto balls passed to him. He stayed at Fylde for a short while and was a substitute at Kiddy for most of the time .Why? Be surprised if AL can change his skill and attributes. Does this ask the question that there is no one else wanting to play here?

Maybe, although it was noticeable that TW didn’t want him at Shots even when desperate and having lost two strikers.

I, for one, was ambivalent when the ever inconsistent and frequently astonishing Gold moved on.

I can't pretend that I hadn't been as excited as the next man at what he could achieve...when he could be bothered.

And I can't challenge his record for goal scoring... when he could be bothered.

Or for his ability defending in the box...when he could be bothered.

But all of these skills... only when he could be bothered.

Is all this baggage Gold comes with, for both colleagues on the pitch and supporters in the grounds, just too much for all of us to truly be able to get behind him ?

And if Lakeland tries to tame him, will he just become a shadow of his former self ?

Are balls in nets really all that counts ?

Once again I find myself ambivalent. But willing to forgive his foibles if he comes up with the goods ?

If I can be bothered...
