Good to see the support for the Manager and his ambitions is continuing to be supported by Joe
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

By reckoning, that's 5 attacking midfielders plus the AM and Johnson as a holding midfielder and not including our winger......... difficult job keeping everyone happy and giving people game time.

I guess things are ever evolving Pink.  Seems we have a balance of young hungry midfield players with vastly experience Central defenders and top end players.  I guess that’s a policy AL has adopted

I have noted your new role Mall of Club Forum Rep :laughcry:

To me this signing only makes sense if AL is going to go really on the offensive in matches, both home and away.I that scenario he could play the two Josh's for 60 mins and then sub them with Hughes and the new lad for the remaining 50, whilst having Crane and a back 4. But if we go to Radcliffe and Scarborough with a back 5, looking to stifle and get something on the break then it makes no sense at all....and given as you say they are young, hungry and good players for the level, I can see some leaving before long.
Interesting that one of the criticisms AL made of the squad he inherited was that there were too many of the same type in the squad.
Prediction for next two:

With a back 4 and attacking line up, 3 points Saturday and 1 point Tuesday.

With a back 5, just 1 point Saturday and zilch on Tuesday

Pink, you are too kind. ( I think).  I’ll take I’m the voice of reason  :Sherlock:.

If we play the new lad on the right hand side as a mirror to Crane on the left then that to me leaves issues elsewhere.   At the back the middle 2/3 are not quick enough to play a high line which leaves huge gaps in the 3rds.   Plus the wide defensive players ( Crowe n Sass) won’t have the space to play in.  Can you also afford to play Gold and Margetts in that kind of system?

For me the new signing is to bolster the options and not necessarily someone who will start every week.

Hasn't football become incredibly complicated? I wonder how many players nowadays go onto the pitch somewhat confused and then become even more so if and when plan A isn't working?

Certainly agree with Rod.  Imho, none of the players at any level would understand a word of the tactics talked for an hour before the game and another hour afterwards.  Pep G can hardly keep a straight face when he gets a pretentious question from Redknapp, and the poor subs have a job giving a coach with an ‘-pad an impression they’re listening and looking at the pictures before he goes on.  Formations only work on a Subbuteo board where the players stay in position.  On a real pitch the players keep damn moving!  And the all in-wrestling in penalty areas before corners is absolutely ridiculous!  Winning teams have good mobile players all over the pitch, and move in numbers either up or down!  The more good players we get, the better we’ll do!!!…

We look good on paper. Unfortunately we have to play on grass.

There's ya answer Mallard. The new lad plays at the expense of Gold.

Gold taken off on Monday, dropped to the bench today. Interesting move!

Certainly a different line up with No out and big one up top.   Looks like AL has another string to his bow in only going with 1 strikers but plenty of young legs in support.

Excellent 3 points on the Road.  I see our next opponents got beat at home today.  Never know if that’s a good or bad thing.

I seem to recall that it's usually very windy there....have they still got moveable goals ?

Our next opponents result today has no bearing what so ever on what happens when we travel there, it’s down to AL and the squad he picks to perform on the pitch and come away with a result if possible. If however we loose, if we put in as much effort as we can and get beaten by a better team, we have to accept that on the day.

Daz can’t see that.  AL will be watching Scarborough’s performance today.  Looking for weakness’s and seeing where there strengths are.  After a home defeat.  Confidence may take a hit or it can galvanise some teams.  Would you not agree ?
