Lynn bow out of FA Cup, going down 1-0 at Curzon.

We desperately need a centre forward who can score goals.

The idea is to score more than you concede.  :laughcry:

We seem to be quite tight at the back these days but since Margetts got injured we have struggled at the other end of the pitch.  Last Saturday v Darlo we scored  a couple but in truth they were gifts really.

Why was Crane missing today ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Crane was Suspended
It was Williams who missed the open goal

The philosophy at Lynn seems to be to try and grind out results...very boring to watch and as today has proved it has its pitfalls.
Start taking the game to the opponents instead of being over cautious. The team is a full time professional outfit with fitness a given so what's the problem?
As for going forward the chairman needs to rethink his pricing policy for home games because it is a fiver too much and that is a widespread opinion in the town.

Both chef's? I thought it was 3 chef's.

Just had a listen to AL post match.  Obviously disappointed to lose it so late and with missing the big chance in the first half.   Suggested we had gone toe to toe with maybe the best team in the League.  On that front anyone know how they are funded at Curzon?  Hayes, commercial, benefactor?  Are they full time ?

Also sounds like we have a few more injury worries with Jones and Sass playing with injuries.  If we lose Jones ( who was playing with a knee injury) will we be looking to bring a keeper in or go with the lad Boyes ?

Let’s not be too down after today. We still sit 7th in the League ( play off position) with lowly Buxton calling next Saturday

An enjoyable day out in Ashton even though Lynn lost.
Lynn M.O.M for me was Sam Walker. In the early stages Curzon bossed the game with their No11 and No7 both looking impressive. Big miss by Williams when faced with an
open net. Gold provided a few flick
on with his head and had one cross taken away from him when he looked as if he might score. He was certainly no
more or less effective than any other Lynn player.
Lynn began to look the stronger side in the second half and then the killer blow from Curzon. Decent set up at the ground( eg decent toilets, REASONABLE admission charge.)
Good to see lots of youngsters using the all weather pitches adjoining the ground.

Well considering a few people I know thought we were going to get played off the park and come back with a 2 or 3-0 loss, I thought we did OK against arguably the best team in our league. Defensively we look very well organised and Tom Wilson for me is an upgrade on Adam Crowther, not taking anything away from Crowther as a player. We will do well to hold on to Tom for next season in my opinion. The midfield again is very well organised and we have some very skillful midfielders in this team who will run rings around opposition players if we played it slightly more on the deck. The concern at the minute though is up front and how we play in the final third. Not only are we not getting the best out of Gold but we seem to run out of ideas of what to do once we get into the final third and as a result we don't create enough chances. Theo Williams looks OK from what I've seen of him, he's got a lot of pace but hardly anything has fallen for him (apart from the open goal he missed from 20-25 yards out but, as Lakeland said, he had more time than he realised and I wonder if the wind played a part in pushing it the other side of the post  :dontknow: ) to have a go at.

I can see how Lakeland is trying to set us up, I just wonder if it's the right tactics for the type of players we have at the club? I do feel Curzon were there to have a go at yesterday. We forced errors from them at times when we did press them and looked to move the ball with a bit of urgency. We'll probably end up becoming the draw specialists in the league and most of our wins being 1-0 or 2-1 results but whether that gets us into the play-offs or not is something we'll have to wait and see  :scarf:

As Jim Bowen said ‘Look what you woulda won’.   IF we had got passed Curzon then a home game with Big spending Mansfield was our prize.    Mansfield sit 4rd in a league one.    Have to wonder if the Camera’s would have been there as well for a live game.

That’s how the cookie crumbles.  So close, but no cigar.
