I don’t get this big issue about crowd sizes.  It is what it is.  So why people think we should be averaging 1500 is just a fantasy at step 2.   I have no idea of the numbers but what is the biggest average crowd we have enjoyed over say the last 20 years ?  I would suggest it was under Cully the season we gained promotion from this league to the National League?

Though it may have been higher in the National League that would have to be offset by the numbers coming from the away Teams.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

I overheard someone say "This town doesn't deserve a football club". I can certainly sympathise with that statement

I disagree with that.

Of course the Town deserves a football Club, although I think it should be more of a case of what kind of Club the supporters really want.

I think its quite obvious now that the majority of the Town does not care for the dream that some have of league football, but that's different than not deserving a Club.

For a very few supporters its the ambition of playing at a level that the Club can't afford (as long as someone else pays for it).

For others it an ambition to have a Club that really is part of the community, plays at a level it can afford, and not to keep repeating these boom or bust scenario's.

And for the majority, they don't give a sh*t as long as they can watch 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon (at whatever the level the Club is at) without putting their hands in their pockets other than for the entrance fee.

They then head off home and wait for the next home game.

A little knowledge may be dangerous, but knowing nothing while thinking you know it all is far worse.

I was at the match and I don't believe that the gate was anywhere near that figure, and neither did the crowd. The chap I sit near to and I regularly try to guess the attendance. We're usually not far off. This time I said 300 and he said 450. A long way off and we just looked at each other and laughed. So did most of the people sitting around us.

But, a genuine question, what would be the purpose of inflating the attendance ?

Kieran

Can I just ask a question? After a win, as opposed to being positive or happy, why do you decide to accuse the club of artificially inflating numbers which do not have any benefits anyway?

I’d also ask you, were you really there and would you consider yourself a fan? I know what 300 fans look like and it definitely wasn’t 300.

Why is it so hard to be happy about the team?

 :scarf: :dontknow:

Hi Kieran. Many thanks for your insightful and accusatory input.

Despite the waste of my time I will address your comments on my post:

I'm not "accusing" the club of anything. In fact I didn't mention the club at all when I asked a question regarding the possible purpose of inflating attendance numbers. It was a genuine question and you appear to be the only one who has tried to make something else from it.

I was both amused and entertained by the seemingly specious number given out for the attendance. Nothing more sinister than that.

I'm always in transports of delight, nay experience positive delirium, with a win, but I'm struggling to work out why attendance numbers and my ecstasy or otherwise are related to each other. They would appear to be mutually exclusive.

How dare you question whether I was "actually there" ? How dare you question whether I would consider that I was a "fan" ? What gives you the right to thereby imply that I'm a liar ?

I will be sending your libelous and defamatory babblings to my solicitor as I see you have a history of trying to bully and/or insult other posters. You go quiet when you're called out or the answers given exceed two syllables. I'm uncertain whether to consider you an amoeba or just detritus...

Now be a good boy and put your toys back in your pram. I'm sure it's way past your afternoon nap time.

Quinn, thank you for your reply.

That escalated quickly. I asked a couple of questions and suddenly I'm starring in the next courtroom drama on ITV.

If being puzzled at someone guessing 300 fans when it looked more like 811 makes me 'detritus,' then fair enough — I’ll proudly wear that badge (do I get a certificate too?). I must have missed the memo where being wrong about crowd sizes became a criminal offence.

For the record, I didn’t call you a liar — I asked a question. You know, one of those things people do when they want clarity, like, ‘Did you actually see it?’ It wasn’t a court summons, mate.

But listen, I’ll be sure to contact my legal team (aka. my mate Dave down the pub) to prepare for the incoming lawsuit. I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to hear I’m being sued over headcounts at a football match. 'Your Honour, we have reason to believe my client has overestimated human density.'

Anyway, I’ll leave you to your ‘transports of delight’ (lovely turn of phrase, by the way) and your impending multi-million-pound defamation case. If I’m found guilty, I’ll happily serve my time in solitary, counting imaginary crowds for company.

All the best, Kieran (Proud Member of the Amoeba Appreciation Society 🦠)

I think every Lynn fan wants them to play at the highest level and we all secretly dream of league football HOWEVER... I think the reason many are dubious and perhaps don't support the dream as proposed currently is down to the ownership/communication side of things.

I think most peoples issues are due to the fact its sometimes hard to feel like a supporter when you are kept in the dark with alot of goings on at the club, the Joe thing still looms over (what is his role, is he investing/has he invested etc etc)

There has been numerous strange comments from above and activities that sometimes make you lose faith a little in the club most of us grew up supporting/fell in love with.

I for one want a club I can support, be a part of and feel involved in - being made aware of the goings on, the plans (to a point - more the clarity then of course being involved). It would be nice to turn up on a Saturday see Lynn play, read the comms from the club and that be it rather than second guessing everything going on and wondering whether to believe what we hear.

As for threatening libel for asking questions (elsewhere not from yourself), this forum never fails to amaze.

It will happen, although the only way you can be sure of the clarity you mention is by being involved, even if that's only via elected representatives who would have a legal obligation to be "open and honest".

I agree that every fan wants the Club to play at the highest level, but I would add, "that it can afford".

I really don't believe that we all secretly dream of league football. There may be some but I really don't believe that's high on the agenda for most.

:scarf:  If as some want local footballers then the club will go backwards and attendances also as with Setchells time. SC’s ambition is imho too high a peak to climb without higher attendances and more financial inputs. :countingmoney:
I feel that with the correct model we could have a good team playing at this level when comparing our rivals attendance figures without putting the club in jeopardy financially.
Perhaps with the release of the football structure and management with implementation under the appointed commissioner changes will be enforced that may improve things. :laughcry:

Again yes, I think sustainability and transparency is key. Just to feel like a well run club with the fans at its core!

What's the correct model?

Apparently we already have the highest level of sponsorship and commercial revenue that the club has ever had, and that does not appear to be anywhere near enough to fund the running of the club.

I quite agree with that statement B&G. Unfortunately I have a wicked and sarcastic sense of humour which doesn't seem to come across very well on here. Just blame it on my autism 😔

Merry Christmas to one and all. May we all find and/or hold on to our peace. (Sincerely meant)
