In the light of Lynn's low position in the Southern League first division this New Year's Day result must be looked at as a point won rather than one lost.
It moved them further away from the bottom clubs in the division and with the games in hand they could climb into mid-table respectability.
Burton were also pleased with the result for it moved them to the top of the league ahead of Stourbridge ho lost at Cheltenham.
Both goals were "soft" affairs which should have been prevented. Lynn's came in the third minute when Frank Wignall flicked in Ray Elliott's corner and the ball trickled into the net with the Burton defenders apparently fooled as David Clarke tried to get in a touch.
Six minutes into the second half Burton won a corner and Pollock's centre was turned in by big centre half Stan Jones with the slightest of deflections. Lynn seemed to watch the man rather than the ball.
A stinging shot from David Brooks saw Bob Wesson dive full length to punch away and Rudd was close with a header as Lynn looked for a second goal.
But a thigh injury to Wignall slowed things down in the second half. He was forced to move into defence and Lynn missed his midfield prompting which gave Burton more scope.
In the end it was Burton who were looking the more likely to score and a snapshot from Graham would have been the winner but for a low save by Steel.
