Raunds Town 0 King's Lynn 3
1st March 2011
LYNN moved to the top of the table for the first time since September, albeit briefly, as they completed the double over the Shopmates.
The Linnets did everything they could to climb to the summit before St Neots' 6-0 win at Blackstones 24-hours later put the Saints back on top.
Three goals inside the first 29 minutes put the game to bed as a contest and Lynn, quite rightly, took their foot off the pedal with one eye on Saturday's FA Vase quarter-final against Rye United at The Walks. Raunds, without a win since November 13, and with three players suspended, were a goal down within seven minutes through Dubi Ogbonna.
Four minutes later Jamie Thurlbourne scored his 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot - his third spot kick in a week.
Pat Bexfield added a third on 28 minutes.
Alex Street turned away lain Blaikie's penalty two minutes later after denying the same player with a fine fingertip stop a few seconds earlier.
It was the first time on Lynn's League travels that they have failed to attract the largest gate of the season for the home club.
Lynn: Street, Doherty, Alsop, L. Thurlbourne Bacon), Bulhemann, Watson (Fryatt), Bexfield, White, Spriggs, Ogbonna (Reeve), J. Thurlbourne.
