King's Lynn 3 Market Drayton 0
2nd March 2013
Wounded lion Steve Spriggs bounced back to form as the Linnets stretched their 100 per cent record to eight games in 2013.
Livewire Spriggs - dropped to the bench for the midweek win at Romulus - responded in the best possible fashion with a brace, before substitute Sam Mulready rounded off another three points for The Walks outfit.
After the game Linnets manager Gary Setchell praised his top goalscorer, had been stung into action by his relegation to the bench in the West Midlands.
Setchell said: "What Steve Spriggs needed was to be dropped at Romulus and sulk for a couple of days and come in on Saturday and show us all what he can do - which is what he did.
"He didn't want to be dropped and its hard when your top goalscorer isn't performing and you leave him out.
"But we trained reasonably hard on Thursday, went for something to eat, and I spoke to him.
"Spriggsy was back to his best out there today. Even in the first half when it was a little bit flat he was our main threat."
It took a word-class save from Danny Gay to deny Market Drayton's Neville Thompson early in the second half, to finally spark Lynn into life.
Spriggs opened the scoring a couple of minutes later before doubling Lynn's and his tally 14 minutes from time when converting defender Ross Watson's pull-back.
A hard-fought, but by no means convincing, victory was wrapped up by substitute Mulready in the second minute of injury time.
