Lynn 0 Rothwell Town 0
LYNN began the new year with a lack-lustre performance in front of the largest Walks' crowd of the season.
After the great performance against Boston, it was certainly a case of "after the Lord Mayor's Show."
And it was clearly a case of two points dropped as all of Lynn's title rivals won to put the Linnets further back in the title race.
Lynn clearly missed the pace of striker Lee Wilson who broke his leg in a friendly at Arnold on Thursday.
Injuries forced Lynn to make three changes from last week's win at Boston with Craig Clark replacing Tony Spearing, Mark Turner in for Gary Mills and Shaun Keeble making his first start since October 9 - taking the place of Wilson.
Lynn started with a succession of early corners, but could find no way through the Bones rearguard.
Rothwell's John Walker denied Keeble at the far post and then the ball just eluded Simon Dakin after Dave Puttnam had crossed from the left.
Puttnam then found Keeble who just couldn't keep his header down at the far post.
Mark Turner should have done better from another sublime cross from Puttnam but he headed over.
On the half-hour mark. Keeble was wide with a long range volley and then Tony Marsden beat away keeper John Hughes to the ball on the edge of the box, but steered his effort wide.
Dakin had the best chance of the first period on the stroke of half-time from a great Marsden through ball, but the defender nodded his header just wide.
Lynn, led by the hardworking Marsden in midfield, thought they had a goal after the break when Rowland flashed an effort at goal, but his effort was ruled out for offside Puttnam and Mark Harbottle both had long range shots and, despite the introduction of Jon Palmer. the closest the Linnets came was Marsden's header which was straight at the keeper.
The referee added on nearly 10 minutes of injury time, but they still couldn't find a way through and were held for the 11th time this season.
