Gloucester City 0 King's Lynn 2
3rd February 2007
Keith Webb hailed his side after they moved up to sixth in the Premier Division table.
A goal in either half from Michael Frew and Andrew Fisk set the Linnets up nicely for last night's clash at bottom club Northwood.
Webb said: "For me, this was a better performance than our victory over Yate the previous Saturday.
"It was a real tight little pitch and Gloucester gave it a real go. Our back four were really solid and we had to keep our discipline in our performance."
Speaking ahead of last night's trip to North London, Webb added: "The Bath game is a big one, but I believe the match at Northwood is probably our biggest of the season so far."
Webb opted to stick with the same back four which saw Greg Crane retain his place at the expense of Grant Cooper, who returned from a one-match suspension.
New signing Paul Crichton made his debut between the posts, but on-loan Norwich City youngster Andrew Cave-Brown missed the game because of a training camp in Malaga with the Scottish Under 19 squad.
Lynn's first goal arrived in the 25th minute from Frew, who netted with a cheeky back heel after being given space following a fine save from debutant home goalkeeper Ray Johnston.
The second came from Andrew Fisk who lashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box after a four-man move after 73 minutes.
Five minutes after the break, Frew tried a lob from some 50 yards with Johnston off his line but the goalkeeper recovered well to clutch the ball just under the bar.
On the hour mark a 25-yard snap shot from Tom Webb crashed against the bar and was cleared for a corner.
Jack Defty, who had fired over the bar three minutes earlier, set up Alex Notman whose drive was palmed round the post by Johnston.
Gloucester had two late efforts for a consolation, but Crichton saved with his legs and Fisk cleared the rebound.
