King's Lynn 3 Halesowen Town 2
3rd November 2012
An inspired substitution by King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell saw his side stretch their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions.
Setchell is proving to have a canny knack of making the right changes, after striker Jason Turner was the late hero by coming off the bench to register a last-gasp winner.
Turner struck two minutes from time after the Linnets were twice pegged back after taking the lead through Steve Spriggs and Danny Beaumont.
It was the second time in the space of a few days that Setchell's substitutions had worked the oracle for his side.
Delighted boss Setchell said: "I seem to be getting a bit of luck with my substitutions this season. They worked at Loughborough on Tuesday and they've worked again today.
"I gambled for three points on Tuesday night and I did the same against Halesowen as three points is always better than one, especially at home.
"Overall I feel we were the better team on the day. They caused us a few problems when we were pen and trying to kill the game off, but we had the lion's share of the chances and I thought we dominated the opening half-an-hour.
"You earn luck - people say you get out what you put in and these boys are putting everything in and at the minute they are getting everything out.
"We're not going to get carried away, we're just trying to earn as many points as we can."
Lynn opened the scoring after 27 minutes when Russell Dunkley playing a delightful reverse pass to Beaumont on the left.
Spriggs collected the cross at the far post before smashing it past Evans.
Despite all of their early domination, Lynn were hit by a sucker punch six minutes before the break.
Ben Haseley found himself free on the edge of the area and, although Danny Gay did well to smother his shot, the striker quickley pounced on the rebound to equalise.
Linnets goalkeeper Danny Gay produced fine stops either side of the interval to foil Dan Evans and a Brendam Kelly free-kick respectively as the visitors threatened to get their noses in front.
Lynn regained the lead in the 60th minute when Beaumont picked up a Dunkley knock-on and, although the keeper got a hand to it, the ball trickled over the line.
Halesowen levelled for a second time in the 82nd minute as Haseley crossed from the right and Yeltz' substitute Mitchell Botfield was left unmarked in the box to stab the ball into an empty net.
Turner came on for the final minutes as Lynn gambled in an effort to find a winner.
Within three minutes he had controlled Dunkley's knock-down, kept his head in the area, before his effort flashed past Evans.
Assistant Halesowen Town boss Trevor Burroughs was gracious in defeat, saying: "The sign of a good side, which King's Lynn are, is that they kept going and going."
