Fleetwood Town 3 King's Lynn 0
4th April 2009
LINNETS boss Keith Webb blasted his side after this comprehensive defeat in the North-West on Saturday.
The Walks outfit were completely outplayed from almost start to finish by their hosts, whose Sean Clancy struck a hat-trick.
Webb said: "We were lucky to get nil. The players didn't perform and Fleetwood were a lot sharper than us all over the pitch.
"Fleetwood's front two were very lively and we couldn't cope with their number seven.
"I know it has been a difficult time for everyone at the club recently but I won't tolerate more performances like that."
Webb confirmed after the game that striker Kris Renton will now remain with the Linnets until the end of the season.
"Kris is here until the end of the season," said Webb.
"There were one or two stipulations by Norwich City in his initial loan spell with us, but now he'll have to fight and try and force his way into the side."
The Linnets could have played with six strikers on the pitch on Saturday but it wouldn't have made one bit of difference to the final outcome.
Webb made just the one change to the starting 11 that lost by a single goal at Droylsden last Monday evening, with Andrew Fisk replacing youngster Ross Kelly in the Linnets' midfield.

Lynn's best spell came in the opening 15 minutes when Renton tested home keeper Danny Hurst with a header from an Adam Smith centre.
Fleetwood's first opportunity came in the 20th minute when a pinpoint cross from John Hills was met by Mike Wilde but away keeper Scott Howie saved well.
The hosts took the lead midway through the half when Clancy waltzed his way past three Lynn players before slotting past Howie.
Eight minutes later it was 2-0 when Howie dropped a routine catch from a Michael Milligan free-kick and Clancy nipped in to score.
Howie soon redeemed himself with a smart stop to deny Clancy a first-half hat-trick, while Warren Beattie saw his effort come back off the post as the half-time whistle approached.
Midfielder Clancy completed his treble three minutes into the second period when Wilde's shot was blocked by Bradley Thomas before Clancy picked up the loose ball and rounded Howie to score.
A forgettable afternoon could have been a lot worse had it not been for the heroics of Howie.
Howie produced fine stops to deny Wilde, Beattie and John Hills as Fleetwood threatened to run riot.
It took Lynn a full 30 minutes to muster any kind of effort on the home goal in the second half, Jack Defty seeing his effort tipped over the bar by Hurst.
