Northwood 1 King's Lynn 2
5th February 2007
THE Linnets came from behind to take the points after a half-time dressing down from manager Keith Webb.
Lynn trailed 1-0 at the interval as the hosts belied their lowly league position, but second half goals from Steve Melton and Matt O'Halloran saw Lynn claim the points and move up to third in the table.
Webb said: "I let the players know what I expected of them in the second half in a constructive manner.
"Northwood came at us very strongly in the first 15 minutes, but once we picked it up we created several goalscoring opportunities."
Northwood enjoyed the perfect start as they opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Jerome Hall.
Peter Dean was the provider as he picked out Hall on the edge of the box, and his first time shot was too good for Paul Crichton in the Linnets' goal. Lynn looked for an immediate reply but Woods' goalkeeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz was on hand to foil a shot from Matt O'Halloran.
The hosts were playing with some confidence and former Lynn target Dean tested Crichton with a half-volley on the angle.
Lynn gradually began to put Northwood, who lost experienced defender Perry Norman with an ankle injury, under a spell of pressure, Alex Notman twice going close.
Crichton was called into action by both Elliott Buchanan and Hall either side of the interval before the game was transformed as Northwood conceded two goals in a five-minute spell around the hour mark. Melton was the first to strike in the 58th minute, sweeping the ball home after Notman provided a far post knockdown.
Four minutes later, O'Halloran became Lynn's leading scorer for the campaign when he netted from the spot after Bradley Hewitt had upended substitute Sam McMahon.
Notman then tested Jimez-Ruiz before the Woods' `keeper pulled off a stunning save to deny McMahon, while Greg Crane headed narrowly over.
Julienne was foiled by Crichton while Dean fired a shot into the side-netting late on.
Lynn: Crichton, West, Blois, Warren, Crane, Fisk, O'Halloran (Camm), Melton, J. Defty (Frew), Notman, Toms (McMahon). Subs not used: Cooper, McAnally.
