King's Lynn 10 S&L Corby 2
5th April 1947
LYNN TOWN ran riot in their United Counties League match with Corby at the Walks, Lynn. on Saturday. Giving their best display of the season they found the net ten times. Corby scored twice.
The forwards, at the peak of their form, were ably backed by Driver and Knight.
Corby were not so outclassed as the score indicated. and their approach work was at times equal to Lynn's.
COLLISON, who had a good game on the right wing, scored twice for Lynn in the first half, and ROBERTSON, the schemer-in-chief, got another two. One of them ended a fine run in which he beat three men.
WELLS notched a couple early in the second half, before McSTAG and CLARKE both beat Chandler. Clarke's goal was actually intended as a centre and the ball swerved into the net hitting Chandler in the face. For a foul on Wells Lynn were awarded a penalty, from which CORBETT scored, and WELLS added three more from passes through the middle.
