King's Lynn 1 Aylesbury United 1
5th November 2005
Linnets striker Danny Bloomfield lit up an otherwise dull afternoon with his 10th goal of the season.
Bloomfield's predatory strike 18 minutes from time salvaged Tommy Taylor's side an unlikely point against an Aylesbury outfit without a league win since the end of August.
Manager Taylor said: "We wanted the three points, but we were extremely flat, especially in the first half. The lad Fell done well when he came on."
"I couldn't have asked of any more from the players. We went one at the back for the final 35 minutes and I played Danny Hammond up front.
"The gamble paid off. I was trying to take a bit of pressure off of Jack (Defty) and get Danny (Bloomfield) between him and Hammo.
"I thought we dwelt on the final pass too long instead of getting the ball out of our feet quicker and we had three players who play to their full potential."
Before Bloomfield's goal, the closest Lynn came to scoring was in the ninth minute when his powerful header at the far post produced a point-blank save from Aylesbury keeper Jack Rashid.
Aylesbury's first attack of the game resulted in a goal when Gavin Jaggard and Dean Powell combined to allow the impressive Paul Edgeworth to chip the ball home midway through the first period.
Bloomfield's strike, thanks to the work of Mark Camm and late debutant Luke Fell, woke up the crowd and led to a late spell of home pressure.
The Linnets' top scorer had good shouts for a late penalty turned down after Neil Lazarus had appeared to haul him down in the dying minutes.
Lynn's home faithful, who had been treated to a dire first half display from their side, vented their anger on the officials, but to no avail.
