Billericay Town 1 King's Lynn 3
6th November 2007
This result proved the real potential of the Linnets squad which, until Tuesday night, had been absent from their last four matches.
With five players missing through injury, few people gave Lynn a prayer before the match and with The Walks outfit trailing 1-0 at the interval, Lynn's Trophy dream looked over and out for another season.
But Keith Webb's side produced a second-half display full of passion and promise as they played their Essex hosts off the park to run out comfortable 3-1 winners.
v Billericay left ace marksman Joe Flack - 19 goals in 17 appearances - on the bench and although he did come on after the hosts fell 2-1 behind, Michael Frew's penalty finally sunk their hopes.
The Essex outfit came close to getting the perfect start when midfielder Paul Abbott fired in a superb swerving shot after seven minutes, but Linnets keeper Scott Howie beat out the effort.
Frew then found himself in a good position on the quarter-hour, but failed to get power behind his shot and the ball fell tamely into keeper Billy McMahon's arms.
Tony Boot came close to putting fellow striker Woods-Garness in soon after, but Howie saw the danger and raced him from his goal to block.
But Howie had no answer after 21 minutes when Woods-Garness sent the ball across goal for Dormer to fire home.
With the home side looking fatigued, Lynn took control after the break.
surged Lynn levelled in the 58th minute when Chapman surged into the box before firing a low shot past Billericay keeper Billy McMahon.
Three minutes later it was 2-1 when Greg Crane's powerful 25-yard free-kick flashed into the goal.
In the 75th minute Lynn completed what looked "Mission Impossible" at the interval when Frew tucked away a penalty after being bundled over in the box.
