King's Lynn 2 Telford United 0
7th August 1997
Key striker Brett McNamara scored the first and turned provider for the second as the
Linnets beat their Vauxhall Conference opposition in a tough workout.
McNamara made no mistake in the 31st minute, when he found himself in yards of space
as a clever dummy by Simon Mead sent the Telford defence the wrong way.
At that stage, Telford were just threatening to get on top, skipper Colin Hoyle clearing a shot from
Asa Charlton off the line.
But the goal clearly lifted the Linnets and despite a number of changes for the second half, they saw
McNamara's low cross turned in by new boy Steve Williams at the near post after 60 minutes.
Lynn: Hollman (Lewis), Matthews, Skelly (Sherlock), Wright, Hoyle, Spearing, Pascoe,
