S&L Corby 3 King's Lynn 3
8th March 2011
WIDEMAN Jamie Thurlbourne's late strike snatched a point for the Linnets at Occupation Road - but King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell took little consolation from the draw after seeing his side surrender a two-goal lead. Thurlbourne rescued the Linnets with a trademark free-kick after two goals in the space of a second half minute from Corby
had left Town's title hopes hanging in the balance.
Leading scorer Jack Defty fired Town in front after four minutes and Steve Spriggs doubled Town's advantage less than three minutes later.
A speculative effort from Corby's Liam Boath reduced the arrears just before the interval and more defensive lapses allowed the hosts to take an unlikely 3-2 lead just past the midway point
of the second half.
After the game a furious Setchell said: "We're taking nothing out the fact that we've scored a late equaliser and gained a point as we simply weren't good enough and some of our defending was atrocious.
"The first 30 minutes we've played well and could have gone in three or four goals up, but the middle 30 minutes was as bad as Saturday was.
"We didn't pass the ball and we just panicked.
"We upped it again late on and got another goal but there's no consolation in that because obviously St Neots have gone on and won 5-2.
"For all the hard work you do between September and March you throw it away on nights like this. We've been guilty of that in the past and we can't put our finger on it."
