8th December 2001
Norwich striker Danny Bloomfield's loan period has been extended at The Walks by a further month.
This was confirmed late yesterday after talks between Canaries boss Nigel Worthington and Lynn director of football Kevin Boon.
Bloomfield, whose last game will be in the FA Trophy at Morecambe on January 12, was the worst culprit on Saturday as goal-shy Lynn fired their eighth league blank of the season after dominating for long periods against the second-placed side.
Manager Tony Spearing said: "Things fell for Danny which you'd want to fall for him because nine times out of ten he d put it away, but it just wasn't to be his day.
"He was down after the game but that shows that he cares. I still think he is a massive talent and I know what he is capable of doing."
Spearing added: "We played some tremendous football and tore them to pieces at times. In the end they were glad to go away with a point."
Lynn's centre-half injury curse also struck again, with the impressive Roger Joseph limping off with a calf strain 24 minutes into the game.
Spearing said: "I don t know what we've done wrong but someone seems to have it in for our centre-halves.
"Jon Whitney is finished, Robbo and Welshy are probably out until after Christmas and now Roger has joined them and is likely to be out for two to three weeks.
"I'll have to play Tommy and myself there soon."
Lynn were in control from the start and it took a fine save from Danny Potter to keep out a Jamie Clarke volley as early as the second minute.
Lee Hudson glanced a header wide and Adie Hayes drive whistled past the Weymouth post, before Kevin White's header struck the bottom of the post after being picked out by Simon Dakin in the 19th minute.
Two minutes later Steve Wilson had to be at his very best to deny Lee Phillips as a well-organised Weymouth side threatened on the break.
In the 35th minute a delightful ball from White put Bloomfield in the clear, but his shot fizzed over the Weymouth woodwork.
Lynn continued to hold the upper hand after the interval.
Hayes drive was gratefully clutched on to by Potter, while Bloomfield directed a header straight into the sticksman's arms following a Hudson knockback.
Seconds later White waltzed his way through the Terras' defence only to see his pull-back scrambled to safety.
The visitors became more of a menace as Lynn pushed more players forward late on and in the 80th minute Phillips failed to toe home a David Laws cross.
Bloomfield missed the chance of the match five minutes from time when he failed to connect with White's knockdown when only three yards out.
Three minutes later the same player knew it wasn't going to be his and Lynn s day when the ball was taken off his foot just as he prepared to fire it home.
