THREE headed goals in a seven-minute second half purple patch saw the Linnets take all three United Counties League points at The Walks this afternoon.
Lynn had been struggling after talismanic captain Jack Defty left the pitch minutes after giving them a 16th minute lead. The big striker had trapped a nerve in his back but should be fit for Tuesday night's home game against Boston Town.
Mid-table St Ives levelled shortly after Defty's departure, and the match appeared to be drifting towards a draw when Lynn went into overdrive.
First substitute Kieran Doherty produced a great cross from the right for Luke Thulbourne to head home after 68 minutes.
Two minutes later brother Jamie Thulbourne, who was yet again Lynn's best player, crossed for Doherty to head in the third.
And after 75 minutes central defender Martin McNeil powered in another Jamie Thulbourne cross to seal the victory.
Defty had started the ball rolling by heading in Jamie Thurlbourne's cross, before Ricky Dear plundered the equaliser.
Lynn could have taken the lead as early as the second minute when Danny White headed just over. Jamie Alsop then clipped the bar with a cross. With the score at 1-1 Stephen Spriggs saw his lob drop just wide.
After the break Spriggs shot tamely at visiting keeper Armitage after beating two players in the box, and then Lynn stopper Alex Street did well to save a Scott Fielding effort.
Jamie Thulbourne twice went close with free kicks and St Ives missed a golden opportunity to go 2-1 up when Ozzie Foster headed wide from close range. Then came the goals.
McNeil was booked for Lynn for a bad tackle, and visiting players Fielding and Dear also went into the book.
Joint manager Gary Setchell told the Lynn News: �We have played well, scored four good goals and kept the ball really well.
�We defended well apart from another silly lapse in concentration which gave them the equaliser.
�But the team deserves credit for their defensive performance because, apart from that, we limited St Ives to next to nothing.�
Setchell also had praise for substitute Doherty, who played in a right midfield position, allowing Spriggs to partner Robbie Harris up front.
�Kieran is unlucky that he has not forced himself a position in the team, but he always gives us a good 7/10 performance, his effort and workrate is second to none and today he scored a tremendous goal.
�He is a valuable member of the squad who can play in various positions.�
