Dartford 1 King's Lynn 0
10th April 2004
THE Linnets wasted numerous chances, had Jack Defty red-carded and fell to a final minute goal - the Darts' only shot on target all game.
This is Lynn's fourth dismissal - all in Kent - in seven away games, and all the marginal decisions went against them on Saturday.
Firstly Defty went to a contentious sending-off in the 30th minute. He overran the ball and lunged for it in a 50/50 challenge, Chris Tedder's boot went flying, and Tedder was stretchered off.
The referee did not stop the game at first, then he brandished the red card to Defty, who limped off.
The second marginal decision on 65 minutes saw Dale Watkins lay the ball off to sub Chris Bacon, who crossed it hard and low for Lee Stevenson to back-heel into the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
With ten men Lynn were still dominating the game. Early in proceedings home keeper Simpson tipped over a Mark Burrows header from a corner, while Watkins fired wide with the keeper to beat and Simpson dived to deny Carl Holmes.
Following the sending-off, Mark Camm moved into the centre of midfield from out wide. Simpson saved with his legs from Burrows, and just after half-time foiled both Holmes and Stevenson with the follow-up.
Immediately after the offside 'goal' Holmes and Stevenson headed wide.
But in the 90th minute in his own box Linnets skipper Glen Fuff let the ball run instead of 'row Z-ing' it, trod on it and Tostoa Kwashi nipped in to score the heartbreaking winner.
