JOINT King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell watched his side ease back to the top of the table � before revealing that he had challenged his players for more despite having the three points in the bag by the interval.
First half goals from Danny White, Jamie Thurlbourne, Jack Defty and Robbie Harris put the Linnets in an unassailable position after the first 45 minutes.
But after a recent midweek trip to watch title rivals St Neots, Setchell called on his players to continue their ruthless streak in the second half.
Setchell said: "I went and watched St Neots in midweek and before the game I would have said the difference was that they keep going and going.
"Before Saturday we'd had a couple of starts this season but hadn't kept going. Irchester springs to mind when we were 3-0 up inside half-an-hour, then 2-0 up against Desborough inside 30 minutes, and in both games there was an element of settling for what we had got � whereas St Neots kept going right to the end.
"I challenged them at half-time to see if we could do the same and we sort of huffed and puffed for spells, but that is something we can certainly improve on as the season goes on.
Second half efforts from Defty and Steve Spriggs, who marked his first full 90 minutes with a delightful chip near the end, completed the demolition job on Daventry United, whose consolation goal came courtesy of Darren Frost.
Despite being without three of their regular back four, Town had few problems against the sixth-placed visitors and Setchell said:
�Before the game I looked at it and they'd had a good result, midweek, against Cogenhoe. We had a makeshift back four and we felt we could be in for a tough afternoon.
�But it was one we just had to get through unscathed. We would have been more than happy with that, but the way the lads went about the first half was tremendous.
�We knocked the ball about and moved it and to be honest we looked a different league.
�Stuart (Ablett) came in and apart from his fitness in the last 20 minutes he looked like he had been playing all season. I thought he was superb and some of our wing play was different class.
�Last week at Dereham we raised the bar of our own performance and we said to the lads today we can only get better the more games we play.�
