LINNETS fans who thought they had seen the worst British Gas Business Premier Division performance of the season from their side in December were sadly proved wrong at the weekend.
Although the Linnets claimed a share of the points, this abysmal display was on a par, if not worse, than the home defeats by both Gloucester and Maidenhead less than a month ago.
Manager Keith Webb's side were out-fought by a battling Clevedon side, who only had a squad of 12 to select from.
Webb admitted after the match that his side had been poor from start to finish.
Webb said: "That's the worst we've played since I've been here.
"There was no creativity, no spark and we didn't pass the ball well enough.
"Clevedon came here and put everyone behind the ball, but we just didn't know how to break them down.
"We created a couple of chances late in the afternoon, but then got frustrated and looked vulnerable. Had Clevedon scored a late winner I would have had few complaints."
It took a lacklustre Lynn side 89 minutes to force the Clevedon keeper into any kind of save, while the hosts were comprehensively murdered by a gutsy visiting side in the first half-an-hour.
There was some some false encouragement in the first minute when Matty Nolan played in Alex Notman, who scuffed his final effort, but after that Lynn were rarely at the races.

Lowly Clevedon, who arrived without a league win since the start of December - when they ironically beat Lynn 3-1 at home - were twice denied by goalline clearances.
Firstly Danny Haines' cross was headed towards goal by Pitcher, but Andrew Cave-Brown was on hand to save Lynn's blushes.
Minutes later, Pete Sheppard saw his header cleared off the line by Grant Cooper.
Lynn survived Clevedon's brief onslaught but failed to create any real chances of their own after regularly conceding possession at the earliest opportunity.
Greg Crane somehow managed to sidefoot Cooper's flick-on wide from two yards in the 30th minute, while Lynn wasted a number of free-kicks in good positions.
The second half failed to improve, with Clevedon looking the more likely to break the deadlock.
Jack Defty was introduced at the expense of Nolan and Michael Frew replaced Notman, but it failed to spark Lynn into life.
Clevedon's Andy Gurney saw his shot from the edge of the box pushed out for a corner by Shaun Marshall, before Frew's late header nearly snatched an unlikely three points for lethargic Lynn.
The man-of-the-match award to Frazer Toms just about summed up the whole afternoon, and quite rightly led to a mixture of laughs and boos from the dejected Linnets faithful.
