King's Lynn 0 Corby Town 1
13th November 2007
HAVING just been named BGB League team of the month, the Linnets lost their 100 per cent home record to a fifth-minute goal on Tuesday night.
Insult added to injury as Phil Mulryne faces a few weeks out after tore his groin during the warm-up.
In a poor game and performance, The Walks outfit went down to lowly Corby, who had nevertheless lost only one away game this season.
In the fifth minute at least two Lynn defenders failed to clear a diagonal ball across the box, and Darren Lynch's angled shot at the back post gave home keeper Scott Howie no chance.
Three minutes later in their first real attack, Lynn wasted a chance to draw level when Matt Nolan was felled by the visiting keeper Steve Ryan, which gave Mr Hair no option to point to the spot.
However, Michael Frew's 'stop-start' penalty run-up was ended by a kick was too close to Steve Ryan.
After that, Lynn had plenty of possession, but threatened little with it. With half-an-hour gone, Frew and Nolan missed the target with efforts, while at the other end Howie denied Lawrence Lambley with his legs.
Just after the break Dean West fired an Andrew Fisk centre inches wide. On the hour Fisk's goalbound effort hit Jack Defty.
Lambley and Tom Bonner both had good chances to increase the lead.
With 15 minutes left, Nolan hit the side-netting. In the remainder of the game Howie grasped a free-kick by Adam Wykes, while Lynch's diving header bounced into the ground and somehow over the bar.
