Buxton Town 2 King's Lynn 1
14th September 2009
Linnets' boss Carl Heggs saw red on his playing debut as the Linnets crashed to defeat against a poor Buxton side on Monday might.
Heggs, who after a string of indifferent displays from his side, included himself in the starting line-up for the first time this season, was dismissed early in the second period for a second bookable offence.
In another night to forget, Lynn also picked up seven other cautions, triggering an automatic fine of £500 from the league for their poor discipline.
Also making his debut for the club was defender Bobby Aisien, signed on loan from Rushden & Diamonds as a replacement for discarded club captain Craig McAughtrie.
It brought the total number of players making a first team appearance this season to 25 - just two behind the total for the whole of last season - with Heggs expecting to make more changes this week.
Buxton took the lead on 33 minutes when Andrew Boyce's attempted header failed to clear the box and Gavin Knight was on hand to score from only six yards.
Knight had a chance to add to his and Buxton's tally, but somehow contrived to fire over with only Gay to beat as the hosts began to control midfield.
Lynn equalised just before the interval.
A goalmouth scramble resulted in a Lynn corner, from which the ball eventually fell to Joe Magunda to hook the ball home from five yards.
Heggs, already cautioned for a crunching tackle on the Buxton goalkeeper, was sent for an early bath following a clumsy trip on Steve Ridley soon after the restart.
The reduction in numbers made little difference as Boyce struck the woodwork.
Buxton went ahead against the run of play when Aisien was caught in possession and Keiran Lungsden scored from close range.
Boyce had a good chance at the death but put over as Lynn's run of six league games without defeat became seven points from a possible 18.
