King's Lynn 5 Thetford Town 1
15th February 2011
JOINT Linnets boss Gary Setchell believes Norfolk has a cup final to savour after seeing his side book a Carrow Road date against Dereham Town.
The Walks outfit cruised past Thetford in the semi-final with in-form marksman Robbie Harris netting a brace to take him up to 22 goals for the season.
Setchell said: "No disrespect to Norwich Reserves, but I think Dereham and ourselves are the best two teams in the competition and it's going to give the county a great final.
"Matt Henman's Dereham are flying high in the Ridgeons League and we're doing well in the United Counties League and
there was little to choose between the two sides in the Vase earlier this season."
On the win against Thetford, Setchell said: "We didn't play with the same intensity that we had been playing with in our previous games.
"It was still a good win but it's important that we don't start looking at the bigger game and take our foot off the gas in other matches."
Fellow joint boss Kevin Boon said: "It has set the season up for us now with us making it through to Carrow Road."
"A cup final at Norwich was something we wanted right back when we went to Yarmouth in the first game of this competition.
"What I think you'll see now is with a game like that and the FA Vase to come, it keeps players on their toes.
"I'm sure there'll be plenty of talk before the game because of what happened when we played Dereham before, but our priority is still the league and then the FA Vase.
"I think players will now raise their game. Everybody wants a shirt. There is a great buzz around the place."
After Harris had fired Lynn 2-0 in front going into the break, Thetford gave the Linnets an early scare when replying through Matt Dixon two minutes after the interval.
But a trademark free-kick from Jamie Thurlbourne and efforts from Danny White and Luke Thurlbourne sealed a comfortable passage to the final.
