Frickley Athletic 2 King's Lynn 2
15th October 2013
Lynns Andy Hall was the hero and late villain as the Linnets secured a hard-fought point during a 2-2 draw at Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night.
Just a few minutes after earning his side a point from the penalty spot, Hall somehow contrived to miss a gilt-edged chance to bring home all three points for Lynn.
Hall chose to square the ball to Dan Jacobs, who was tackled in the penalty area, rather than shooting himself when clean through on goal.
Although they had to peg the hosts back on two occasions, the Linnets were well worthy of a point after being by far the better of the two sides in the opening 45 minutes.
Allott put the Blues ahead with a 29th minute penalty after he had been brought down by a clumsy challenge by Jordan Yong in the penalty area.
Jake Jones scored a great individual goal to equalise for Lynn just before half-time before Joe Fox sent Allott clear to put the Blues ahead again on 54 minutes.
However, Tom Woodhead was adjudged to have brought down Dan Jacob in the box on 80 minutes and Hall converted the resulting penalty.
Manager Gary Setchell said: In the first half it was probably the most weve bossed a game this season.
Weve had eight or nine attempts on their goal, we hit their goalkeeper, had another effort cleared off the line and put plenty of good crosses in the box.
When you have a spell at this level like we did in the first half you need to put the game to bed, but we werent clinical enough.
Setchell added: Frickleys number ten Allott is a very good player. He gets in the team of the year every season but we didnt deal with him.
We went two 2-1 down after a mistimed pass and ending up throwing everyone forward in search of an equaliser. We were good value for the point but I feel we should have had more. Frickley: Woodhead, Gardner, Villerman, Picton, Denton, Wilcox, Fox (Oniama 88), Bloor, Hinsley, Allott, Ghaichem.
