King's Lynn 0 Bromsgrove Rovers 0
16th March 1999
LINNETS endured a frustrating night as they did everything but score against bottom side Bromsgrove.
Lee Allen, returning from suspension, had a goal disallowed as Lynn threw themselves forward. Ironically Rovers had the best opportunities to steal the points while Lynn had a catalogue of near-misses, which means they have dropped six points in their last three home games However Lynn move up one place, now being ahead of Gresley on goal difference.
Away keeper Daniel Naisbitt denied Paul Fitzpatrick, making his home debut, point-blank on the line after Mark Turners header was blocked. Naisbitt then saved at Lee Allens feet when Lee Wilson sent him clear.
Chuck Martini punched a weak clearance and Ricky Gardner’s follow-up was headed off the line by Lynn skipper Colin Hoyle
On the half-hour mark, Allen put the ball in the Rovers net as Turner nodded on a free-kick by Fitzpatrick. But it was disallowed for offside.
In the second half Gary Mills, Turner, Allen, Wilson and Fitzpatrick all went close. Nicholas Colley wasted the best chance of the match, blazing over a sitter from five yards after Martini dropped a Gardner free-kick. Gardner shot over with just Martini to beat. Ian Cooper deflected wide of the post a goal-bound effort from Linnets substitute Micky Nuttell, then Naisbitt saved at the feet of Wilson in a one-on-one situation. Lynn: Martini, Hoyle, Spearing, Robinson, Fuff, Mills, Turner, Fitzpatrick, Allen (Nuttell 77), Wilson, Puttnam. Subs (not used): McGinty, Nottingham.
Bromsgrove: Naisbitt, Jackson, Davies, Coper, Winstone, Bytheway, Dodd, Ulfig, Colley, Jenks (Moore 89), Gardner. Sub (not used): Pendleton, Humphries.
