The Linnets recorded their first-ever victory over Tiverton as they finally found their touch in front of goal with a late scoring burst.But immediately after the match manager Tommy Taylor again turned his attentions to bringing in a new centre-forward, despite seeing his side virtually double their early-season league goals tally in the final 30 minutes of Saturday's contest.
Taylor said: "I knew we can score goals, and it's pleasing to see four different names on the score sheet, but we still need two more strikers.
"We should have been out of reach by the interval and it's an area we need to improve on.
"Defensively we looked solid, there wasn't anything we could do about their 30-yard goal. All I want to do is get at sides and attack them with pace.
"People say to me that we've got the second best defensive record in the league, but I want us to be the best. If we can manage that then we will be top."
Taylor is still hoping to bring in Lebanese frontman Ali Chabaan, but another target on his list is striker Peter Dean from Southern Premier Division rivals Northwood.
Dean (19), a former Watford Youth team and British Universities player, started his career with Maidenhead before moving to Hayes in the Conference South.
The youngster, who has been spotted by assistant Terry Back, has netted four times for the basement boys so far this season. Lynn were hoping to arrange a friendly for tonight to run the rule over Dean, but it looks as though Taylor will have to do that in a mixed run-out against the Reserves and Youth team.
On Saturday it was former youth product Robbie Harris that opened the scoring after coming on as a first-half substitute for the injured Jack Defty.
Harris fired home in the 62nd minute before Sam McMahon finally supplied a goal from the Linnets' midfield with a delightful curling effort 11 minutes from time.
A 30-yard screamer from Stewart Yetton gave Tiverton a glimmer of hope two minutes later before Matt O'Halloran, a late replacement for Harris, punished some sloppy defending from Danny Seaborne to set-up Danny Bloomfield for Lynn's third.
Deep into stoppage time O'Halloran headed home McMahon's free-kick to upstage midfielder Mark Camm, who was making his 100th appearance for the club in his preferred role of centre midfield.
Earlier in the game, former Wisbech shotstopper Mark Ovendale had kept his side in the match with saves to foil Defty, Bloomfield and Harris, while Martin McNeil's goalbound header was cleared off the line by Steve Winter.
Richard Pears and Jamie Mudge carried Tiverton's greatest threat going forward, but their defensive frailties were ruthlessly exposed by Lynn, who are now eighth in the table following their third successive league success.
