Team Bath 1 King's Lynn 3
18th February 2006
IT was all-Matt finishes for the Linnets as they moved back into a season-high third place on Saturday.
In-form striker Matt Nolan bagged a brace and wide man Matt Halloran one. The result puts The Walks outfit in good fettle for tonight's home top of the table clash with Chippenham, but manager Tommy Taylor needs a better performance.
He said: "We just didn't pass the ball very well, I was very disappointed, just pleased that we won.
Grant Cooper hit one great ball and we scored from it. If we keep hitting the ball up and giving it away, we're not going to score.
"I can never moan about the commitment, just that we gave the goal away on a set piece. I've got to talk to one person about marking at the post.
"I think we need Matty Nolan to keep scoring for us, while Matt Halloran did well, I was pleased with him."
Nolan was on target with his eighth goal in 11 games and had a hand in all three goals on the day.
He pulled back the ball after a Jack Defty header on 19 minutes for O'Halloran -to open the scoring with his left foot from 12 yards.
Nolan then chipped up to put in Defty, but the midfielder shot straight at keeper Jacob Giles.
O'Halloran and Shaun Carey then both were guilty of shooting wide on a greasy Twerton Park pitch which soon cut up.
Seven minutes after the interval the Linnets increased their lead. A superb long ball from Cooper found O'Halloran on the right who pulled back for Nolan to fire the ball home.
Team Bath substitute Adi Adams then headed home a Danny Maye corner on 64 minutes.
But Nolan made it 3-1 three minutes later, forcing in a Defty header. New signing Lee Charles came on for the final 20 minutes, and Lynn completed their 100 per cent overall record against the university side.
