TOO many Lynn players went through the motions as Darren Bloodworth and Kevin Boon's honeymoon period as joint caretaker managers came to an end.
The Linnets gifted lowly Corby their two goals, but to make matters worse The Walks outfit were out-fought in all departments by a side whose budget is only a third of that of Lynn's.
A disappointed Bloodworth said: "We looked a totally different side from Saturday and I find that quite amazing.
"We knew it was going to be a battle, but too many players didn't get a foot in and too many didn't play. We just didn't perform as a group.
"Both Kevin and I feel let down. We had enough chances and possession to beat them, but we didn't back each other up in the box."
Director of football Boon said: "We had two good chances in the opening 10 minutes, had we put them away then it would have been a different story."
Lynn restored the recently-injured Robbie Harris to the side for the flu-ridden Malcolm Ndekwe and his performance, along with that of midfielder Mark Camm, were the only plus points of the night.
Harris' fellow strike partner Carl Holmes was the biggest culprit in front of goal and the two-goal hero from last Saturday could only muster a weak shot on target during the opening exchanges.
Corby called Steve Wilson into action with 12 minutes on the clock and the shotstopper did well to turn Dean Foley's shot from a free-kick out for a corner.
Five minutes later, one of the best moves of the night involving Jack Defty, David Staff and Holmes, saw Staff pull the ball across the face of goal, when he should have pulled the trigger, and the ball was scrambled clear.
Midway through the half, Staff bent a curling free-kick just wide of Richard Larvin's right post and soon after he created an opening for Holmes to head wide.
In the 31st minute, Paul Raynor played in Staff with a delicate chip, but slid his shot wide.
Three minutes before the break Harris' shot was deflected into the path of Holmes, whose goalbound effort was well blocked by a Corby defender.
The Linnets were given advance warning of Corby's breakaway abilities in the 43rd minute when Michael Sneddon flashed a drive inches wide.
Normal service was resumed at the start of the second half, but as Lynn continued to waste chances in front of goal, goal-shy Corby began to sense it was going to be their night.
Staff found himself clean through in the 51st minute after profiting from a ricochet but fired wide.
Lynn paid the price for their inability to find the target 60 seconds later when Michael Sneddon burst through a static Lynn defence to score Corby's first league goal for six matches.
The large contingent of Lynn supporters, who made up most of the 88 gate, expected a late onslaught from their side, but it never really materialised.
Holmes blazed over following a delightful pass from Raynor, while some Harris magic on the right was flicked-on by Staff, but no Lynn player was on hand to pounce on the ball in the box.
Substitute Chris Bacon's cross flew across the Corby box, while Holmes glanced Jamie March's in-swinging centre wide.
Lynn were duly punished in the 81st minute when Corby doubled their goal tally for their previous eight league matches.
The Linnets' defence was no where to be seen when Dean Foley delivered a cross to the back post, where Michael Stanton out-muscled Camm to lash home with Wilson once again indecisive between the posts.
The few Corby fans, clearly delighted by Lynn's lack of urgency and passion, started singing "Can we play you every week" near the end as the Linnets stared their third league defeat in the face.
Three minutes from time, Camm gave Lynn a brief glimmer of hope when he drilled home from just inside the box.
Northampton referee Chris Miller added on six minutes of injury time, but to their credit battling Corby held on for only their third [sic - it was their fourth], but deserved, league win of the season.
