King's Lynn 1 Northwich 0
21st October 2012
Striker Russell Dunkley's fourth goal of the season stretched Lynn's unbeaten record to nine games in all competitions this afternoon.
Dunkley was on hand to glance home a delicious delivery from Steve Spriggs deep into first-half stoppage time as second-placed Lynn maintained their unbeaten home start.
The Walks outfit were forced to call upon all of their grit and determination before finally shaking off the Vics, who made life difficult for the hosts during a tight 90 minutes.
Lynn made two changes from Tuesday night's 2-2 draw at Rainworth Miners Welfare.
Ryan Fryatt won a recall to the side at the expense of Jason Lee at the back while Jamie Forshaw was given the nod over Danny Beaumont up front.
After a cagey opening 15 minutes, good build-up play involving Jordan Yong and Dunkley saw Jamie Forshaw's effort flash across the face of goal.
At the other end, Danny Gay was at full-stretch to keep out a John Hardicker shot as a competent Vics side controlled the majority of the opening 25 minutes.
Lynn were forced into an early change when Phil Gulliver, who had been outstanding until his exit, limped off to be replaced by Jason Lee.
Dunkley was booked as the interval approached but the big man made amends when heading home Spriggs centre much against the run of play.
It was Lynns only effort on target in a poor first 45 minutes and Gary Setchells side could perhaps count their blessings that they went into the break with their noses in front.
Northwich, who continued to look bright and busy, almost levelled matters two minutes after the restart when Joseph Guest fired wide of the target.
Dunkley fired high over the woodwork before Pax Bexfield was introduced into the action for the ineffective Forshaw.
Bexfield almost had an immediate impact on the proceedings, twice going close in a matter of a few seconds.
Quigley then guided a Spriggs centre wide of Robinsons right post as Lynn finally began to get some kind of foothold in the game.
Lynns best move of the match almost resulted in a second when Spriggs just failed to convert a neat piece of play by Dunkley.
