THE Linnets notched their highest-ever Southern League goal tally, beating a 39-year-old record as local rivals Spalding were put to the sword in this Easter Monday mauling.
This 4-0 triumph made it 96 for the season to beat the previous best of 94 set in the 1963/64 campaign.
Midfielder Carl Holmes led the way with his second hat trick of the season as Lynn, inspired by the silky skills of Lee Stevenson, completed their sixth double of season in some style.
As expected, defender Mark Burrows and striker Chris Bacon were missing from The Walks outfit's line-up following knocks received on Saturday.
Lynn set siege on the Spalding goal from the outset, Jack Defty glancing a header wide in the early exchanges and David Staff forcing Tom Roberts into an acrobatic save in the second minute.
The breakthrough came four minutes later when a poor back-header from Mark Draper allowed Defty to nip in to score.
Spalding's first threat saw Lee Sowerby head over Paul Goodhand's pacy free-kick in the 17th minute.
Midfielder Carl Holmes doubled Lynn's advantage midway through the first period, but he was indebted to the industrious Stevenson, who engineered the opening after a mazy run and cross.
Three minutes before the break Adam Jones was on hand to clear Sowerby's lob off the goal-line as it threatened to sneak into the corner of the net.
Seconds after the restart Holmes wasted a glorious opportunity to put the game beyond doubt when he blazed wide.
In the 51st minute Staff was once again denied by the reflexes of Roberts, but the Lynn faithful didn't have to wait too much longer for the third when Stevenson's centre was headed home by Holmes, who atoned for his earlier miss.
Midway through the second period Defty's drive stunned the fingertips of Roberts, who was relieved to see the ball whistle past him for a corner.
Holmes completed his hat trick in the 72nd minute when he left Roberts with no chance with a powerful 15 yard drive to make Spalding only the second side in the bottom six after Fleet for Lynn to do the double over this season.
Lynn were forced to play the last few seconds with ten men, having used all their three substitutes, when Stevenson limped off with a knock.
