King's Lynn 2 Raunds Town 1
22nd November 2011
A LATE goal from Nelson Moreira saved the brave 226 souls from enduring extra-time in this uninspiring League Cup encounter at The Walks.
It was Lynn's lowest gate for a competitive game since January 2007 as Lynn gave a trial to Cypriot youth international Alex Konstantinou in a team that contained a mixture of first teamers and reserves.
Despite being involved in the build-up to Lynn's first goal, former Northampton player Konstantinou failed to make the kind of impact Lynn fans would have hoped for.
Setchell said: "Nathan Daw had an excellent night on his debut at right back and it was good to see Nelson (Moriera) back among the goals after a few weeks out.
"If we can get a bit more consistency into Nelson he will be a real handful and he's got a big part to play for us this season.
"He is so powerful and runs the channels so well. It was only a few weeks ago when both Jack (Defty) and him tore Deeping apart.
"The biggest positive for me was Stuart Wall coming through the 90 minutes and not showing any after effects."
Moriera gave Lynn a seventh-minute lead which was cancelled out ten minutes from time when Karl King equalised from 25 yards.
Extra-time looked a certainty but Moreira, who could have easily had more goals on the night, pounced in injury time to set up a second round tie against Northampton Spencer.
